I went back and forth about buying one of these two monitors (right now we've decided against it). After lots of comparison research I've found out that most people think the zoom is not really worth it (it's not a true zoom and therefore kind of crappy quality) but the panning and tilting is definitely worth it.

We have the large screen and I love it. I don't use the pan and zoom a ton but I assume I will when she is older. I love that I can see the monitor from a ways away.

i have the bigger screen and the smaller screen. the panning that is on the bigger screen is soooooo worth it. actually we use the big screen for charlie instead of olive! the monitor becomes more useful for mischievous toddlers!

I have the bigger screen and I love it. Haven't seen the smaller on so I can say if it's worth the extra money.

I have the smaller one and from threads on HB it seems like the larger one has panning and zooming which the smaller one does not have.

I feel like the screen on the small one is large enough. I can see my LO and if I need more detail for whatever reason I tiptoe to her room.
The small one I got on Woot! for under $75!

I have been going back and forth on ordering the Motorola video monitor. I know from the reviews it's quite a bit better (and apparently lasts longer) than most any other monitor on the market. The 3.5" screen is significantly more expensive over the 2.8" screen. Those of you who have ordered/owned one, is the addtl screen size worth the extra $$? Or does the 2.8" do the trick? My frugile side and the side of me that wants to get something that will truly benefit us is currently at war!

Thanks in advance! : )
