same as pp's have said...some days she is so quiet and i get worried, then the next day, she'll kick and move and turn and make a ruckus. i think i read somewhere that sometimes they go thru a growth phase and are really quiet and sleep a lot.

also, at 28 weeks, i went to get an ultrasound and i didn't feel a darn thing but the ultrasound showed she was moving around in there, but i couldn't feel it yet.

Its pretty normal, but definitely ask your doctor when he thinks you should be concerned or call for reassurance. I went in to L&D 3 times from 30 weeks until my due date due to reduced fetal movement. Every time I was there, I apologized to the nurses, and they were very adamant that reduced fetal movement is nothing to mess around with. They told me to look for 5 movements an hour on average, or for a change in a set routine.

Since you are feeling movements, its probably ok, but if it subsides more, call your doctor. If it keeps up, wait until tomorrow, but def ask him what he suggests for counts

Yup that is very normal! They don't have a lot of room to move around.

And ha! M was relatively quiet in the womb but she never naps and she is a crazy mover!

It's so stressful. I am sitting here at work thinking she hasn't moved in awhile... Personally I'm glad I have the fetal doppler because I can check the heartbeat if she isn't moving around much.

@MamaMoose: Right?? I've told DH that a few times. I'll freak out because he has a quiet day and then I'll freak out when he seems to NEVER take a rest to sleep. Uh oh :)

@Running Elley: I have days where I also feel like baby never took a nap all day. It scares me for when the kid is outside the womb!! No nap day will not fly then kiddo!

At 36 weeks I can definitely attest to the fact that there are sometimes slower days! Sometimes he'll have a slow day 2 days in a row and then the next day is moving nonstop, seemingly without any breaks to sleep lol. I also recommend laying on your left side :)

@jessiejo17: Mine seems to have a semi-schedule, that's why I was feeling a little worried. But i'm starting to feel some movements so feeling better about things.

Just think, in less than 3 weeks you'll have a new schedule to learn!

At 37 weeks I have been able to kind of figure out her schedule, my doctor says 5 good movements an hour, otherwise call in to be monitored. I can go 2 hours without a solid movement, but she will start kicking like a mad woman (aka wakes up from her nap) soon after. Also try lying on your left side for an hour and relaly concentrate since she/he could be in a position where you just aren't feeling them as much.

I'm 34 weeks and the baby definitely has slower and busier days. I think it also depends on general position as @MamaMoose: said.

Oh yeah. I'm 30+2 and my baby has slow days and busy days. It just depends on their positioning. As long as you can still get ten movements (count swishes and turns, not just solid kicks) within an hour then there's nothing to worry about.

Baby was really quiet last night, and so far this morning. I've had hot (decaf) tea, and ice water which usually gets him jumping.

I've felt a handful of small kicks but nothing like the crazy acrobatics that he's been doing for the past few weeks.

Can anyone reassure me that it's normal for the baby's movement patterns to change?

I'm 28 weeks.

I have an elective ultrasound today, and my regular monthly appointment tomorrow so will discuss my concerns with the doctor then.
