Ice cream sundae bar! The choice of a few different ice creams & toppings. Or let eat kid pick a Ben & Jerry’s flavor.
Ice cream floats are fun too!

Yes to the concessions idea like above! It’s so cute. Only problem is you have to have a lot of things on hand. My kids made fake money for it doing chores last year

Another thing my kids like is to each pick a treat from the store (like candy not real food) and then we use our lunch bento boxes so they get some of each and popcorn and get a little tray. Or anything that makes the presentation fun.

And they love to watch in a pile of pillows and sleeping bags/nap mats. Mine are 2, 6 and 9 and we’ve had “movie Monday” all summer and they look forward to it every week.

Another thing we did on nights when I didn't want to cook was that we would watch travel shows (Rick Steves has a whole lot of European ones on his website) and we would pick a country, watch travel shows about it and get takeout from a restaurant that was the same culture. Like our Italian night, but we did a lot! (India, Japan, France, United Kingdom, etc)--my kids loved deciding what foods they wanted to try out, and the shows made it for an easy and fun activity!

Treat-centered is my forte too...but we have done:

An Italian food night and the movie Luca (Pasta, Orangina, tiramisu)--kids love the food, and theme-ing anything is a win for us!

Since we live in Canada, and have spent more of the pandemic in one form of lockdown or another, I made 'movie nights' at home during the first few months. Someone would pick the movie and one of the kids would draw a poster and we would put it up under a 'now showing' sign I printed off. And then I printed off a bunch of concession stand signs, assigned prices to everything, made fake tickets and gave the kids a budget to work with. It was hilarious and cute, and never got old. Might be tricky for your littles, but it made many movie nights special here!

Disney put out the recipe for the pesto pasta from Luca, you could have that for dinner and then watch the movie?

I’m solo-parenting my 3 kiddos next weekend while DH goes camping. I’m looking for a fun movie night idea to make things feel extra special (it’s so, so hot, so we are pretty much inside by 1 or 2 each day). For example, a few years ago, I bought some crazy candy from a local store and we watched Willy Wonka. I’ve also bought Harry Potter candy for a Harry Potter night (without little sister). It doesn’t need to be fancy (and it doesn’t need to be treat-centered either, though clearly that’s my forte), just a little different. Kids are 2, 6, and 8.

Thanks!
