Moving is definitely tough before or after but I am glad we did it before our second baby arrives!

I have asked about this too... we moved to a different state and new house when baby was two weeks. If I had had a choice I definitely would've chosen before. We did have a professional moving company.

Pros
-baby was still sleepy enough that the car ride was a nonissue... (today at 11 weeks he hates the car seat!!)
-people are less likely to send you oodles of things right away that are overwhelming because you're moving
-baby has less of a transition to a new place since he/she wasn't old enough to "know" old place

Cons
-switching all his medical records, etc.
-I was definitely not healed all the way after some complications, the car ride was very painful
-All the obvious - trying to unpack, settle, etc. with a newborn stinks no matter how much help you have
-It is tougher to set up internet, have people like air duct cleaners, etc. come over when you're also juggling a baby

I moved at 8 1/2 months pregnant. It sucked because you're at that nesting stage and you can't really do anything to help...... But you still can't do anything with a baby in your arms. I'm glad we moved before lo came and everything was pretty much able to be set up before she was here so I could just focus on her when she came.

Either one would be hard, but the advantage of before is that you have more free time to get things packed/unpacked/organized. But with a good support system you can make it work either way.

We had to do it after as well and I'd much prefer it before! You deal with it because it's life but I think before is ideal.
It's not the end of the world and they'll never know but at the point you are I wanted to be able to bring her home to her forever home SO bad!

I don't have firsthand experience either but I would say just about anything is easier to do before having a baby! Haha.

Most people will ell you before. We had no choice and did it after (twice) and it was fine. I think you just go with the cards you are dealt and it turns out fine!

I'm sure earlier is easier but sometimes the timing just doesn't work out. I would try to avoid moving in the first few weeks though, and personally I would hire movers. No way would I be doing all that much anytime between 35 weeks and 6 weeks pp.

My baby isn't here yet but we moved yesterday, 35 weeks, and as tired as I was. I can't imagine doing it with a newborn. We had lots of family all come and help. Even did a lot of the unpacking for us so I could sit and rest. There are still boxes everywhere. I don't know how I would have the time to unpack while taking care of a newborn. But at the same time you just make it work! Might take longer to get settled but in the end worth it!

I don't have direct experience with this but I cannot imagine having to move from one house to another right after having a baby. The first two weeks pp, my house was a disaster area while we were trying to settle in a new routine with a little baby. We had diapers, creams, burp cloths, clothing, swaddle blankets etc strewn everywhere.

I may have been able to move when LO was older, like 6 months or so.

I don't have experience, but my gut says moving before. Yea, you would be tired and its a lot of work, but your whole world will be turned up side down the first few months after baby comes home, so seems like a rough time to also move homes.

My husband and I have been looking at properties, and thinking about buying/building a home. I'm 35 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow. I know that chances are even if we bid on something tomorrow, it's highly unlikely that we'd be moving before the baby is born.

BUT, I was wondering about experiences...do you think it's easier to move right before having a baby or right after? We wouldn't be hiring a moving company...we'll do it ourselves with the help of friends and family.
