If you live near an IKEA I really like their kids bath mats. They have a hole in them for hanging and you can just attach a command hook to the wall to hang it on between baths.

@Zbug: That's what my DD is doing. She uses the edge of the tub to pull herself up and hang over to look at the drain, haha.

We used the laundry basket with DD once she grew out if the baby tub but recently got rid of it and just use a bath mat. She was pulling up and leaning over the basket all the time, so I think it's (marginally) safer now.

We use this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-Temperature-Change-Multi-Coloured/dp/B008VR8H2M

though the temperature sensor is pretty off--it always says too hot, even when it's luke warm!

We bought a bath math with the little suction things on the bottom and just pulled it up and suctioned it to the side of the tub after bathtime. It's worked great so far!

@redeyedtreefr0g: good idea about using the laundry basket! I've seen that before but forgot about it. I'll have to try that if the big bath fails.

@Adira: super cute!

@Foodnerd81: Yeah I figured we'll have to pull it up so it doesn't get icky. Good to know it's not a total PITA to do that.

@redeyedtreefr0g: @abbydabbydoodlebug: We just pull our mat up after every bath and let it dry upside down over the side of the tub, then roll it up in the morning until next bath (she only gets a bath every other night and we use the same bath for DH and me to shower in). If we don't pull it up it does get a little icky but never full on slime or anything, just enough to verify that pulling it up every time is a good idea. I thought that would be annoying, but it really isn't.

And I saw the laundry basket idea too and was going to try it if we had trouble just using the big tub, but it was easy so I figured I'd skip that step. Still a great idea if LOs aren't quite ready for the big tub.

I see a post on Facebook all the time about "life hacks" which are clever tricks for things. One of them was just putting a holey laundry basket in the big tub so the kid has lots of space, but isn't really in the whole big tub yet.

I don't have kids yet, but it seemed a genius idea to me. :)

Would the individual sticky non-slip things work too?
My friend with her child had a bath mat, and we were forever having to take it out and de-slime the bottom of it because it would mold really badly underneath it.

@Adira: @Foodnerd81: We have been putting the tub in the big bathtub for a while now, so she is used to the loud faucet (she actually gets really excited and tries to go for it, which results in the tub sometimes tipping!).

Good to know just regular mats work. I was reading reviews on different ones on Amazon and there was something wrong with all of them, lol.

We moved c when she was trying to launch out of the baby tub- we had already been putting the baby tub in the big tub anyway. We got a munchkin mat from target, it's white with colored dots, works fine. She definitely does still pull up a lot, so I just spot her and encourage her to sit with toys and stuff. At least when she falls she is less likely to hurt herself. It was an easier transition than I expected.

We just have some random mat from Walmart. It has cute jungle animals on it.

When we moved Xander, we ended up putting his infant tub in the bath tub first and then eventually got rid of the infant tub altogether. Just a warning though, Xander screamed bloody murder for his first 3 baths in the big tub! He was terrified!! It took him a few times before he got used to it and loved bath time again!

DD has been using her baby whale tub and she's a crawling/pulling up machine so i was thinking of moving her to the big tub. She keeps lunging forward and trying to pull up on the side of the whale tub. Do you think getting rid of the tub would help or not make a difference? If we do move her, does anyone have recommendations for a tub mat?
