We moved at 34/35 weeks in 100+ degree weather! It was fine. However I would like things to be a bit more stable before the next one, in terms of getting used to a place especially with dd.

Yay that sounds exciting! Just try not to stress too much about the unemptied boxes laying around. Take your time and just unpack the essentials at first. Good luck :)

Moving while pregnant is actually awesome bc nobody expects you to do anything! I was 28 weeks when we moved and basically got to sit on the couch, eat snacks and direct everyone...easiest move ever!

We said yes to the house. A few minor cosmetic flaws, but a big yard, fruit trees and a vege garden. I'm actually quite excited to bring up a baby there :) Move mid-Jan, eeek!

We moved when I was around 35 weeks with DD1. It was fine, just hire movers or have friends/ fam do the heavy lifting.

We moved when I was 35 weeks pregnant and it was no big deal! DH moved to a new project that was six hours away, back in the city we had previously been living in, so we found a house online, applied for it and were accepted without having seen more than three pics of the house, and off we went!

We had movers who packed and did all the moving for us - definitely a godsend and something I highly recommend! We were staying in an extended stay hotel for ten days between houses whilst our stuff was being shipped down, so we packed a suitcase with newborn essentials for the baby in case she came early but of course it wasn't necessary. DH took two days off work so he could get everything unpacked and organised with me in the new house as I couldn't have done it all on my own.

It actually wasn't that bad moving at 35 weeks. I wasn't uncomfortable in any way but did have to just be mindful of not lifting things that were too heavy, even though I felt like I could. I also became tired a lot more quickly but really, it was pretty easy. Good luck!!

Ha, this might be me...we've been looking for a house or land to build for over a year. I was hiking through woods at 37 weeks with S, lol. We're looking at a house tomorrow, and if it works out, we're moving early next year.

I think it's a good excuse not to have to lift too much and just do the easy stuff. :)

@SweetMamaM: Do it!!! It sounds like a great place for you. We moved when I was 15 weeks pregnant (not the same, I know), and my advice would be: hire movers!! That should make it a breeze! :)

It would be difficult, but if you can do it before LO arrives, Go For It! We moved when LO was 9 months, and it was a challenge logistically. But we had family help (MIL helped pack and watched LO during the move), so it went really smoothly!

As an aside, you just helped me remember something great that my MIL did . . . I need to remember that ('cus she's cray-cray these days!).

I moved at 35 weeks and when LO was 9 months. The 35 week seemed like a lot of stress at the time but it was a breeze compared to moving with a baby. You can do it.

We moved when I was 35 weeks pregnant and it was totally fine. I did most of the packing myself, but we spent about $600 hiring movers. It was worth every penny. They looked out for me and wouldn't even let me carry couch cushions!

The part that was hard was not being able to get settled earlier. I wanted to nest and set up the nursery, but had to wait until we were in the new house. As soon as we moved, my parents came to visit and helped me paint/set-up the nursery, so it all worked out!

Good luck!

ETA: Make sure you subtract the cost of moving (packing supplies, movers, time off work, cancellation fees (for cable, etc.)) from the projected savings if that would have an impact on whether or not it's worth it to move... it seems like it would still be a worthwhile savings though, especially if you would stay there for a few years.

Me!!

We moved when I was 35 weeks. We moved from our condo into a house. I would pack at night (DH travels during the week) after work and the gym. I did it over a month, so I didn't have to do it all at once. Right after the inspection, I did knick knacks, stuff on the walls, and kitchen stuff we didn't need, to get a jump early.
Then moving day, my family are ROCK STARS and had us all moved while 3 hours. We only moved 6 miles down the road. I sat in a chair with my legs up and pointed where stuff needed to go. My Mom and Aunts unpacked the whole kitchen for me. My Dad and brother set up R's crib and dresser. Despite not doing that much, I was still exhausted for weeks, but I would rather to it pregnant then with a newborn.

Just rest as much as you can!

I moved when my three boys were 2 and I was 7 months pregnant. I did all the packing myself but we hired movers for the big day. It's totally doable, it's just a little extra stress when you can't pick anything up. I would just leave boxes packed in the middle of the rooms and when my husband came home he would move them out of the way.

I moved house at 34 weeks - the best part is that I started nesting around then too and had the whole house unpacked by 36 weeks :)
It's not that bad as long as you don't do any heavy lifting and don't try to do to much in one day (packing/unpacking).

I moved at 36 weeks and my baby arrived at 38 weeks! It all turned out fine. I did very little packing and no lifting obviously. My husband was the one nesting when I went into labor, while I sat there timing contractions he was running around unpacking boxes!

@SweetMamaM: I moved 4 days before my LO arriced (she was a week early). THAT situation was stressful because our closing date kept getting pushed back, we'd already given notice on our apartment and it was already rented to someone else, so we had a possibility of being "homeless" (or in a hotel) when our baby arrived.

Also, my husband couldn't take days off (because he wanted to save days for the birth of LO) and I had to attempt to pack our apartment myself when I was hugely pregnant. We hired a couple of (sketchy) guys from CL to help my husband actually move since I couldn't lift anything.

I think at 34 weeks, if there were a plan in place and the closing was definitely, for SURE happening, I would have been much less stressed.

DH came home last night with an interesting offer. His former colleague is wanting to rent out her property and is willing to entice us as tenants for a low rental rate. Our current place is not ideal for toddlers so we had initially planned on moving in a year's time.
The difference in rent would save us about $3600 a year. While it's not where we want to live long-term, the savings while I'm a stay at home mum are definitely interesting. We've said we'll look at the place this weekend.
With all that in mind, we would be looking at moving mid-January if it all fell into place. Am I insane for moving houses at 34/35 weeks pregnant? Has anyone done this? I would love to hear your stories!
