I'm in the process of my 1st IVF:
9/13- CD 1 natural cycle
9/14- went in for u/s and was started on birth control pills
9/28-last dose of birth control
10/2- started "period" (withdrawal bleeding from stopping birth control). They wanted to make sure this started before proceeding with stim)
10/3- started stim with Menopur 75 and Follistim 150
10/8- added Ganirelix to prevent ovulating too soon
10/11- HCG trigger (stopped stim meds and ganirelix)
10/13- egg retrieval
Plan for fresh transfer on 10/18

@AGOLD: Thank you! Fingers crossed this cycle is it for you!! Good point about the cost and taking advantage of everything they offer! Wondering what my co-insurance is going to be like...
@AMORINI: So true, all we want is a take home baby...no matter how long the cycle takes
I don't know our protocol just yet, I'm waiting for AF to show so I can call my nurse...we'll see if I find out even then but I have a feeling i'll find out at the ivf injection class.
@BLUESTRIPED BEE: Congrats! I totally followed your bed rest and birth story! Thank you for that! IF inspiration board sounds awesome!
@MRSKRB: Which protocol did you do?
@NORTHSTAR: Thank you! Did you have a say in fresh transfer?
@MRS GREEN GRASS: I'll def check out your blog!
Thanks so much, everyone!
I'll try to join the IVF board too, it moves so fast but the support, I'm sure, is wonderful.
Does anyone know the difference between the different protocols? I'm sure there are so many for various reasons.

@Mrs. Pinky: Sorry you are having to move on to IVF. The time line of cycles varies so much with each girl. When I called for my IVF consult appointment, the first available was like 3 weeks out. From there, I got some pre-testing done August 12th, waited for CD1 to come, did BC for two weeks, started stim meds on September 3rd, egg retrieval September 16th, 5-day transfer September 21st and now I'm in the TWW. It really went very quickly once it all started.

As for the injections class, I felt the same way as you! I thought it was going to be a total waste of time, especially since they asked my husband to come along. BUT, the menopur shots were TOTALLY different than the follistim pen shots I was doing. I also really appreciated my husband being there because he forced me to ask some additional questions when I otherwise would have been like "yea, fine, whatever, i've got this" if I was there by myself.

Also, you pay a big amount of IVF, so go to anything and everything they offer you since, after all, you paid for it.

Good luck with everything, doll! You've got this! :goodluck:

@just_ju: Yay! Thanks so much for sharing and happy almost birthday to your LO!

ETA: hahahaha! Let's chalk the bday comment up to the hormone fog but, of course, you had to carry that bean for 9-ish mos. So more like, happy IVF graduation anniversary! :silly:

Birth control for 31 days, 10 days of Lupron, 7 days of stims.

@Amorini: the timing of your cycle is almost exactly the same as my first IVF last year - retrieval was on 9/30, transfer 10/5, and I'm now holding the (very noisy but adorable) product of that cycle. Wishing you lots of luck :goodluck:

Oh, I wanted to clarify, my one month delay due to the holidays was due to my own Christmas trip back east, not my clinic. Any other time, I would have been impatient at a month delay but I was looking forward to going home for Christmas. It was actually very relaxing for me to come home prior to my FET. I was able to enjoy the holidays.

@Amorini: It's a great thread. Feel free to add to it or to comment on it to bump it for others to read.

Feel free to check out my blog around March/April 2012 to see mine. I fee like it was 3 months from planning to do it so actually doing it which was annoying. But my actua stim cycle was pretty short. I did an Antagonist Protocol.

Good luck!

@Mrs. Pinky: Sorry about your failed IUIs. :bummed: And no apologies for lurking! I know I at least did for quite some time...

Right now I'm doing a IVF/ICSI cycle with a long Lupron protocol. (Did your RE mention what kind of protocol they'd start you on? Also do they coordinate treatment so ladies are cycling together? I think there are a lot of "typical" schedules out there since REs do things differently and also there's a lot of variability in schedules based on protocols alone.) Anyways, I started BCPs in mid-August and stims 5 weeks later. I'm on stim day 10 now and hopefully retrieval is right around the corner (9/30 or 10/1 ?? :goodluck: ) and then fresh 5-day :goodluck: transfer the week after. All in all, it will be a 7.5 / 8 week or so process from start of BCPs to fresh transfer. Honestly, it has felt long to me!

I agree there is time before the end of the year, if you're doing fresh. As @MrsKRB said, it seems others here are cycling much faster. In the end, what we want are take-home babies, not fast cycles, right? It's so hard when there's all of this waiting and we just wanted a LO yesterday! My RE didn't want to do the FET route with me, but I would've gone with it personally, even though it would've been so hard. Others here have been vocal with their REs about wanting fresh transfers even when the clinic preferred FETs. Whatever works and gets you through this process.

@bluestriped bee: Not to hijack here, but thanks for the reminder of the IF Inspiration thread. I need that right now. Congrats again on your sweet littles!

I moved to IVF after my 6th failed IUI.

In August 2014, I had my 6th failed IUI and my egg retrival was end of Oct 2014. My protocol was to skip the fresh transfer and go for a FET. Due to the holidays, my FET was pushed back by a month. My FET was end of Jan 2015. My FET was a success and my B/G twins are 3 weeks old.

As for injection teaching, I needed the instructions since my IUIs were done with just oral Femera and ovidrel. The ovridel was injected by my nurse. I didn't have other types of injectibles until my IVF cycle. It was definitely helpful for me.
Anyway, lots of luck to you. I agree with others the IVF tgread was very helpful to me. I pop in there once in a while but there are some very great and amazing ladies on there and I'm always thinking of everyone going through the process. :goodluck:

ETA: oh, yeah, my RE required that I be on BCP for 1.5 months to quiet my ovaries before starting stims. Definitely a lot of waiting. There's an IF inspiration thread that is stickied under the IF support board and it really helped me get through those tough days.

Hi! My ivf cycle was a little longer than some others I've seen. I was on birth control for 6 weeks and then I started injections. Once those started it all went pretty quick - I did about 11 days total before triggering and my egg retrieval was 36 hours later. If you do a fresh transfer I think you could definitely have a shot by the end of the year! Good luck :)

Hi! I'm more of a lurker so I apologize, but hope to get in here more often.
We just found out on Friday our 6th IUI was not successful so we are ready to move on to IVF. I'm curious if anyone will post your IVF timeline. I don't know my meds yet, only that I will start BCP on CD3 of this cycle for at least 3 weeks while I do a mock transfer and attend an "IVF injection" class...how different can that be from IUI? Anyway, I'm curious as to the timeline of other IVF cycles. I get the feeling that my clinic is a fan of FET instead of fresh but I'm not 100% on that. I'm just hoping we can get a shot before the new year but that would mean that everything goes as planned...
Thanks!
