I just wanted to add that while you are FF, until you transition back to BM completely you should add a pump session for every bottle you give your LO to keep up your supply. If you don't pump for each feed, your body will send a signal to decrease your milk production!

I would keep breastfeeding her because she is more efficient at emptying your breast than a pump. To build up your supply, drink lots of water, gatorade, eat oatmeal, make dairy/soy free lactation cookies. I never stopped breastfeeding my DD when we were doing the elimination diet. But like @Zbug said, if she's having a strong reaction to the dairy and soy, pump as often as you can so you don't lose your supply more.

Good luck! Here is a MSPI thread that has a lot of great advice and helpful tips! http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/who-is-dealing-with-a-dairy-intolerance-or-mspi

I do have a local lll and I tried going there Thursday with my husband and I call the leader and she informed me that it was mothers only and that there was no leaders because she retired and the other moved away. So I opted not to go because I feel like my husband is my only supporter in all this. And going to a meeting to not get a pro's opinion and just talk other women that might have gone through what I'm going through was a slim chance. So that's why I am trying to connect through here.

But I just don't want to reset everything but I have to think about the ending result. I hope if her symptoms do come back I can look to here for support.

Thanks again

If you want to keep nursing, I would start again as soon as possible to build your supply back up. The dairy and soy won't be out of your milk yet, however. If she is having a strong reaction to your milk, I would suggest pumping more frequently to maintain your supply. I had to cut dairy for a few months, but my DD never seemed miserable. She had reflux and mucous poop, which went away when I cut the dairy. Because she didnt really seem bothered by it, I didn't use formula. When she was about 6 mo, I was able to introduce small amounts of dairy back into my diet without it affecting her. A few months after that, I was back to eating whatever I wanted. It's different for everyone, obviously, but a lot of babies grow out of intolerances. Do you have a local le leche league? I bet they could provide advice. Good luck, mama!

Hey Everyone,

Could I please get some advice? My 5 month old Adalae was diagnosed with MSPI almost 2 weeks ago and has been a special formula for a little over week. But I just miss nursing her. I know most of you went through the elimination diet with out stopping bf but for some odd reason I thought it would easier on both of us if I gave her formula to make her better and I would eliminate dairy and soy. I have been on the edd for over 24 hours and I wanna nurse her.. so I need advice do you think I should just nurse her and we continue the transition to a milk and soy free life together or should I continue with formula and the edd for myself and in a couple of weeks try nursing her? And I have another slight problem... I haven't felt a let down in a week and my supply has gone down.. I only pump one time a day cause I pump when they feel full. I'm so torn I hope someone can shed some light on my situation.

Thanks
Christine

P.S. I willing to do whatever it takes to continue with breastfeeding
