@MrsF: We're just waiting to introduce it at this point. I've become much more relaxed about her food so I'm pretty sure she's had some incidental butter a few times in the last couple of months and we didn't see a reaction that made us take pause. More than anything we've become so used to not having dairy around we don't really miss it (neither does she!) and there are so many alternatives available we're just not in a rush to get her on milk. We use almond, coconut, rice, flax and hemp milks for her to drink, almond and coconut yogurt, some rice cheese to spice up taco night and it's all been fine. We figure we'll wait as long as we can before we allow obvious dairy. No rush.

@prettylizy: Thanks so much for the ideas and the encouragement! Is she still off dairy because she's had it and reacted badly or are you just waiting to introduce it?

We did BLW with my MSPI DD and it was awesome. I was a total control freak over what she ate but it's been fine. Lots of meat, veggies and fruit and we avoided processed foods as much as possible. She is 14 months now and still no dairy, but we don't worry about soy anymore. We tried her on tofu at 11 months and she was fine. I'm not sure if she'd still react to dairy, but it's not worth risking yet so we just stay away.

Great things we fed her all the time, home made meatballs. Ground meat, shredded zucchini, cooked quinoa, an egg and we just rolled it into balls an baked it. We'd cook several batches at oce and keep them in the freezer. Easy to eat, hits the grain, meat and veggie marks all at the same time and super easy to feed her. Sliced bananas, avocado, steamed broccoli, carrots, roasted sweet potatoes etc. Hummus on anything she wasn't interested in suddenly sparked interest. We also batch cooked GF/DF banana pancakes for her for breakfast which she loved.

Feel free to PM me if you want recipes or have any more questions :)

LO is on Nutramigen for MSPI. She was a very fussy baby and had blood streaked stools at 12 weeks old. She was switched to Nutramigen and improved dramatically. She is now 8 months old and we have been doing purees for the past 2 months, just single fruits and veg, so no concern with MSPI. It seems like now her motor skills and interest in food have improved to the point where I would like to take more of a BLW approach. She is very interested in finger foods and has done well with chunks / strips of fruits and veggies in the past week.

Now I'm not sure how to go forwards with solids in terms of the MSPI. We do see a GI but she didn't want to give anything with any trace of dairy before 12 months. She wasn't really sure what to tell me about the soy because we don't know that DD has a soy intolerance, it's just assumed. I don't want to go against her recommendations for no reason, but it seems a little conservative.

MSPI mamas, I'd love to hear about your experiences with introducing solids! How long did LO stay soy / dairy free? Was it easy to tell if LO was reacting? DD is a fussy baby at baseline and unless she has obvious blood in her stool I'm going to be driving myself crazy wondering if she is reacting to something. Just hoping to gain some confidence from other people's experiences!
