I started trying when I was 26 and by the time we had been trying for 12 months I was 27 and I felt like my RE dismissed my concerns because I'm young. He wouldn't order an FSH, AMH, or any other day 3 labs because my AFC was over 20, meaning I'm young maternal age, but still, those day 3 labs are part of the complete evaluation, and I feel like he didn't do them solely because I'm young. Now I'm slapped with an "unexplained" diagnosis, which is ridiculous because it is a diagnosis of exclusion, and if you didn't do any of the day 3 labs how can you even come to that conclusion?! I'm now on month 14 and I'm still not pregnant. Age should not be a factor. It always makes me crazy that people think younger women can't suffer from infertility. My RE monitored me very closely to try and avoid multiples. That is the great thing about injectibles, if it looks like you are getting too many follicles they can dial back the dose and hopefully not get as many mature follicles. I was going in every other day for about almost two weeks on the cycle that worked for my first son. They did bloodwork too to check my E2 levels as that with the ultrasound will tell you how many mature follicles you are on track to get. </p> <p>One cycle I did have 4 mature follicles and they gave me the option of converting to an IVF cycle, cancelling the cycle or going forward and signing a bunch of paperwork acknowledging the fact that I could have multiples. We went forward as planned.
