They are fairly empty calories but are good for hand eye coordination and pincer grasp.<br /> Pouches are purées in a pouch. I keep an emergency pouch in the diaper bag in case we end up our to eat somewhere where there is nothing for LO to eat. They tend to be very banana and apple heavy so I generally avoid them. There are different flavors. I didn't hear about Mum Mums until HB as well, but I'm a new mom.
