My husband literally played "Push it" on his speaker when I started pushing. I wanted to kill him

No, my OB really doesn’t like outside noise in the operating theatre (I work with him and have learned this from experience 😂) if I knew he was ok with it I would have though! Probably just whatever chill/relaxing songs I was digging at the moment.

No both times. Maybe it could've helped with my first as I pushed for 2 hours? Or maybe I wouldn't have cared...

I spent so much time putting together a relaxing playlist for my second birth. I also wanted to Labor in the tub, have the lights dim, and use these little tea lights. None of that happened (they dimmed the lights but I didn’t care anyway because I kept my eyes closed the whole time). I thought the playlist was way more useful ahead of time when I was practicing breathing/meditation exercises. And it also helped me sleep before and after!

I brought all the things - comfortable bra, birthing ball, ipad with two playlists for labor, a few movies downloaded, a picture to focus on, etc. I ended up in labor for 48 hours, just in the hospital gown, watching all the football games on the TV. I thought I would want to be touched/massaged (very comforting when i'm sick) but I basically was just kinda zoned out. I was cold (not hot like all the books say!) I didn't want my music or movies, I didn't want to be cuddled or touched.

So bring it if you think it might help, but its ok if you don't!

I had a csection. Unmedicated super fast birth. And then a epidural induced birth. I think the music would have been distracting. I’m one of those ppl when driving and lost and looking for roads, I have to lower the sound or turn music off to concentrate

I didn't know you could have music during a C-section until like half-way through. I'm not sure how I found out as I had a horrible C-section experience (spinal didn't work), but I asked my husband to turn on one of my favorite songs. It's called "FXXK It," by a Korean pop band. I don't know if I asked specifically for that song or if I just asked for any song from the band, but he ended up asking me more than once, "Do you want me to play F**k it?" YES, YES, 1,000 times YES. My husband rarely swears, so he sounds really awkward when he does. I was in so much pain, and so desperate that I didn't really care that the rest of the operating room was subjected to Kpop music XD It helped me transcend the experience somewhat. I use music to help me cope with pain flares because it helps me get out of my body a little bit and makes the pain not as bad. For this next-C-section I'm going into it prepared with music and headphones if allowed. I don't want to intentionally inflect Kpop on the OB and his team if I don't have to :P

My husband and the doctors listened to 80’s pop that played through the speakers in the OR. My doctor was okay playing whatever I wanted, but since she was cutting into me I wanted to play her favorite. :silly: Besides, I had earbuds in listening to my Rainbow affirmations walking home through a beautiful birth realization. DH likes to tell LO his birth story and include how he came into the world listening to the greatest decade in music.

I had to login just to comment because I found it hilarious. I was induced and was watching TV originally. But as things intensified I never realized the TV was still on. My husband said he’ll never watch QVC again! I had no idea that’s what it switches over to at any given time!

I ended with a c section and the nurses were kind to play some classical calming music because I was so nervous. I didn’t know it was on until I saw the Live Photo’s on my phone!

I didn't have music in the OR even though it was a planned c section. I don't know that I would have liked it or not. Mainly I talked to my husband asking him what was going on, and giving my doctor a hard time for anything I could 😂

it was fine during early labor, once things picked up it felt very distracting. along with everything else in the world.

My husband focused on the music, but to be honest, I don’t think I paid much attention to the music for my first. DS1’s birth was unmedicated and I could only focus on breathing and labor. It was so intense that I could hardly talk for much of active labor.

DS2 was high risk and I was on bed rest, so I was sent to the hospital before I was in active labor. I was like 4-5 cm dialated and we walked the halls for a long time. Music was very much appreciated since I was more aware and not in the intense labor zone for as much time as my first delivery.

I've tried for this twice and didn't have it happen either time! First time, my husband forget my phone. Second time, we brought it in, but it was under the scrub-suit-get-up they made him wear, and it was too hard to try to get it out. My OB was also encouraging of playing music when I asked about it, and I spent way too much time thinking of the perfect songs and then worrying I might be judged for my choices (why I cared, I don't know). In the end, I was ok with closing my eyes and imagining the sounds of ocean waves during the csections, and then I was wanting to focus on hearing the baby cry and hearing what they were saying about her. Let us know what you end up going with!

Did you have music during delivery? I'm having my 3rd c-section coming up and my OB has suggested bringing in some music. I'm curious how common this is and whether its really helpful or distracting? I also cant decide on whether I want something calming or something more upbeat
