E hated his too. We spent the better part of an hour trying to convince him to try a bite of cake, that we ended up eating the entire slice for him. We joked that our pictures should be DH and I smeared with icing...</p> <p>@math.nerd: Our "party" was just DH and I. Super low key. We let E open presents, and I took a bunch of pictures. And some presents. That's it! I want to give her a new experience each birthday. Not big on kid parties, personally unless they are low key. I really don't want to have a birthday party for him - he won't remember and there is so much pressure to make it so charming! We will get together with his grandparents and have a nice family meal, but that's the extent of it.</p> <p>I'm a little worried, though, that I might overlook something I will regret not having done. Were there any specific activities/photos/projects that you did (or didn't do) for your LOs 1st that have special meaning? I'd like to do something to mark the occasion, but I'm just looking for the right balance.</p> <p>Thanks! </p>
