@PinkElephant: The car seat base would count but we already have one that's still good (the trade-in was in an accident but otherwise the set isn't expired). Stroller accessories don't count as gear. I'd be open to upgrading our baby carrier (we have two K'tans and an Infantino), but they're excluded too. I ended up giving the coupon to my SIL who's expecting their first, so hopefully they can use it!

Like others have said, the carrier is great with #2. I also purchased some new bottles and sippy cups as well as new plain white onesies and fleece pajamas to replace the really worn out ones.

@nanilani: Would a second base for the carseat, or an accessory for a stroller, like a buggy board (rather than the stroller itself) count as "gear"?

@jhd: I'd say the most immediate thing you should get if you don't have one is a carrier. I liked the K'Tan for DD3, who was tiny - it was the best fit for the newborn days when she really couldn't fit in the Bjorn and certainly not the Ergo. It's SO nice to be hands free to do activities with your older LO.

@jhd: The Fisher-Price bouncer so far has been really helpful with DS2!

Also if you Google my real name and babylist you’ll see my registry! I used it more as a running list of things that I wanted to buy. Both necessities and just nice to haves that I didn’t have with DS one or got rid of. So you could check that to see what I have.

I have my second coming soon and am trying to figure out the same thing - what do I need! My girls will be much closer together in age, but I've figure what I really need is the following: second set of mirrors for backseat of cars, second sound machine, additional baby monitor, new bath towel (no fair to share sissy's towels), and diapers! I'm going to be getting double strollers, but I can get those after baby comes. Good luck with #2!

I used baby carriers WAY more with lo2 than lo1, since I needed her to nap while I ran around with lo1 at the playground. Also we didn't have an rnp for lo1 but did for lo2, it was great to have a safe/lo1-free spot to set her down when she was teensy. Also I didn;t know about love to dream swaddle up sleepsacks for lo1, and they are the best!

agree with the recommendations for the Bjorn bouncer and fisher price sit me up chair. both awesome for a second baby! alternatively if you didn't have a boppy lounger with your first, I love that as another place to put the baby down.

I'm expecting no. 2 and planning on purchasing a white noise machine. We never used one with our first who really, REALLY struggled with sleep til he was 1 and still struggles intermittently. I'm hopeful that it will help establish sleeping routines better with no. 2 - waking up an average of 3-4 times a night for a year just about did me in.

Ugh, I'm facing a similar problem with my trade-in coupon. We traded in LO1's infant car seat that had been in an accident expecting to buy a new one, but BRU was sold out so I had to buy it elsewhere (got a better deal too, so small win there I guess). Now I can't find anything else to use it one that we'd actually need -- slim pickings on double strollers and everything else is too small to qualify as "baby gear" :bummed: I was hoping to still get use out of the coupon but not at the cost of buying something we really don't need.

Spare pump parts? Extra burp cloths and bibs. Do you have a Ktan wrap? I think baby wearing will be essential with our second (same gap). You can probably use it at Toys R Us too? Stock up on Color Wonder kits for your oldest to use while you tend to baby? Does your son have a doll he can play with so he can be like Mom?

For #2 I primarily wanted diapers, wipes, a second white noise machine and a new monitor. I also really love the baby bjorn bouncer that wasn’t around when my first was born but couldn’t justify the purchase when we already have a swing that becomes a bouncer.

If you only want to spend the $25, I would just get diapers. But if you're willing to use it towards a higher priced item, the Bjorn Bouncer was a life saver for me with #2. It's so portable and baby loved it as a place to hang when my hands were full taking care of number one. And we eventually used it to feed him as well when he first started solids. We would take it outside, over to friends houses, all around the house, etc.

I have a $25 GC to Babies R Us that I better use ASAP. Any suggestions for something for baby #2?

Our older son is almost 4 so it’s been a while since I shopped for baby stuff. But we have two boys, born in same season, and I kept a lot of stuff. I have already purchased a new bathtub, towels, washcloths, and soaps etc.
