A&A blankets, velcro swaddlers, rock and play (which saved our sleep when we got it at 7 weeks), hooter hider nursing cover, and Carters clothes for my tall, skinny baby! I also love my moby wrap for mall/grocery trips!

The velcro swaddle, rock and play, and moby were all gifts from a friend with an older baby...she knew i'd be needing them I suppose!

@cvbee: I don't think it makes your advice null and void! :) It just goes to prove that one person's "must have" is another's "why would you need that?" I guess there's a reason there are so many options out there!

@MegWag: very interesting! Well, there you go: null and void about my bra advice.

And I agree with you about the 'how little you actually need'.

Oh, another breastfeeding one I forgot to mention: Lanolin for the first month to save your nipples. Use early and often!!

@cvbee: That's interesting that your friends prefer the fully open style for nursing bras. I definitely prefer the kind that have a cut out, rather than being totally fold down. Have large breasts (I went from pre-preg E to an H) I feel like it's WAY too much boob on display in the ones that don't have a little more coverage. I live in my GlamourMom full bust nursing tanks.

My other must-haves at 4 months are the Boppy and bouncy chair. Also, coconut oil which I use for diaper rash, nightly massage, flaky scalp and scratches from sharp nails. There's a LOT of stuff people will make you feel like you need, but it's surprising how little you actually need.

- baby sling-wrap (mine is blue celery http://bluecelery.com/index.html )

- velcro swaddle sleep sack (my favourite are HALO and the microfleece one is so sweet for cold temperatures: https://www.halosleep.com/products/results/?product_category_id=9)

-nursing pillow and a nursing cover (the kind with the wire so you can see the baby like this: http://www.bebeaulait.com/# )

And nursing bras. It's sooo hard to know what you will like with nursing bras, but maybe some other gals can comment to say yay or nay to this: the larger-breasted ladies in my Mom group (and by large, I mean everyone from pre pregnancy C to the really big letters) and I all prefer nursing bras that don't have the material that goes over the top of the boob when it is open.....so, like the whole thing drops down. Like this one: http://www.bravadodesigns.com/shop/the-allure-underwire-nursing-bra and unlike this one: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/anita-international-soft-cup-nursing-bra/3029719?origin=category&fashionColor=&resultback=948)

Agree with the A&A blankets, especially for summer. And also agree with the electric pump (I have a medela and do single and that's perfect for my situation but I won't be in a pumping-at-work situation....just pump once a week or so.)

And I never got these but totally wish I had: http://www.mymilkies.com/milksaver

Must haves: Aiden and Anais swaddle blankets, the Moby Wrap, a baby sunhat (mine wears hers every day), a swing (seriously like a babysitter), a Boppy, and a Diaper Genie

Don't need/didn't use: a bassinet (I am pretty sure almost every baby hates these), receiving blankets that are too small to swaddle with, baby bjorn (moby is way better)

What are your absolute MUST.HAVE items for pregnancy and/or motherhood? It can be absolutely anything; favorite baby items to best clothes to wear while pregnant, etc. Share links if you have them handy. I'm curious to see what is actually important in every day babylife, and what things don't matter that you thought were important.
