It wasn’t a bad break, thankfully, and he was only in a cast for 3 weeks. It was a long and stressful ER trip though and I felt so guilty. Don’t beat yourself up though. I was diligent about putting sunscreen on my 6 year old at the beach last month and he still got sunburned :sad: </p> <p>When he was almost 2 months old I needed to get something out of our garage (old duplex, no door from the inside). The stroller was in there so I just opened it and laid him in it. Next thing I know he is screaming and when I turn around he is laying on the ground! I didn't even think about him squirming himself out the leg area! I felt so bad, I think I cried longer than he did. </p> <p>When he was 8 months old we were at our Aunt's house for Christmas. I was sitting on the edge of an area rug and he was crawling over my legs. He fell and hit his head right on the tile floor. Immediate goose egg. I didn’t grab him securely enough when getting out of the bath at 18 months and he slipped, split his lip and chipped his front tooth on the side of the tub. At 3 he was playing soccer on gravel with his cousin and took a huge fall face first and got a black eye and gash above his eye that has a scar now...we had family photos the next morning! </p> <p>It’s normal to feel guilty after but accidents happen to all of us. I found out my son could roll both ways when I had laid him in the center of our king size bed to run to his room for a clean outfit. Thank god we have a low platform bed and I had a huge pile of towels on my side of the bed I needed to throw in the washer. </p> <p>2.My mom saved me from ending up with a burnt 4 week old, we had went to the outlet mall and she saw he didn't have a hat on , went into the carters and bought him one. I guess I ended up bad burnt (no blisters) around the same age, so she saved me.</p> <p>3. My son tripped on my shoes I left in the floor and bit clean through his lip when he was 11 months old. </p> <p>4. My husband had hung his duty belt on the back of the island chair after taking out his gun, tazer, baton, and OC spray. DD2 was super sensitive to the sun at that age. Any exposure even for less than a minute and she got an insane rash/sunburn. I had to cover her all the time outside but since DD1 was 2.5 and I was always chasing her DD2 constantly had a rash on her left arm which is what was exposed when she was in the sling.<br /> 2. DD1 fell off a chair onto the wood floor and landed on her head while my husband was sitting right next to her when she was 6-7 months. We took her to the ER because there was blood and I was concerned about a head injury, and they asked if we were first time parents.<br /> 3. DD1 fell off a picnic table bench when I was trying to take a pic of her eating ice cream. So embarrassing. </p> <p>We have a lot of other small ones. We took him to urgent care but thankfully no concussion! It was 100% my fault and I felt awful. Also didnt believe DS1 one time when he was complaining of ear pain like a week after finishing antibiotics for an ear infection, finally took him in and the infection had traveled to that place just under your ear which is super dangerous, they immediately gave him antibiotics shots in both thighs to counteract 😞</p> <p>Did the doc say you could put aloe? We were at the beach for a week with my husbands family. She has a rash guard on, hat, under a huge beach cabana type tent and it’s 10 am. . Well, did you know the sun bounces off the sand? Yeah, me neither. Her cheek and L arm got really sunburnt. Angry red (no blisters). I felt awful. I called the pedi, got a really nasty nurse or tech (I don’t know what she was other than she was a bitch) who chewed me out for having my daughter in the sun. Mind you, this was about 10 am. I just felt sick to my stomach. She’s very fair also.<br /> Fast forward toLO2, we are living in a very sunny European county right now. The local pedi (who is amazing) said “the one thing you need to worry about here is sun. Use sunscreen on your kid (before 6 months) if there is a remote chance he will get some prolonged exposure. I’d rather that than a burn. And if he gets red , don’t fret, it happens to the best of us, by just try to be vigilant”<br /> Sure enough, they sell 0-6month “Bio” (organic) physical sunscreens here. I thought we could get away with an hour but it turned into an all day thing and I only put the sunscreen on after a couple hours. I have a close family member who died from skin cancer and I felt so bad. No advice, I know it's a sucky feeling but you're by far not the only one! I also cut my son's finger with the nail clippers when he was a couple months old and dh still teases me! My 3YO DD was in the stroller and my 11WO DD was in the Baby Bjorn on me. I thought everyone was properly dressed for the overcast day, forgetting that my balding baby obviously needed a hat. Well, a few hours later I noticed her head looked red and realized she is sunburnt. I could have puked (and still could) out of guilt, sadness and anger at myself. How could I let this happen? She’s very fair-skinned. I should have known better. I called the pediatrician. They said I only need to bring her in if there’s a fever or blisters, which there is not (thank goodness). </p> <p>Anyone else have an experience of doing or not doing something and unintentionally hurting your babe? Worst feeling in the world. :crying: </p>
