@travelgirl1: @2littlepumpkins: I haven't been able to get a new monitor, but I moved to the guest room, which is closer to my 2 yo and slept with her door and my door open.

@MamaBehr: @2littlepumpkins: I though she seemed warm when I put her in bed last night, so I went ahead and gave her Tylenol. She didn't get sick, so it's possible the fever was causing her to get sick, I don't know! She has been normal again today, except a lot crankier than usual.

@rosegold: I'm definitely washing my hands a lot. I didn't quarantine her, though that might have been smart... I just don't think I could have pulled that off.

@PinkElephant: thanks for the tips - I found some of those pads to use around her bed.

@MamaBehr: I was thinking that too.. Like would some tylenol to bring the fever down help? But then how would you know when the fever was gone if she slept through and how would you know the reason for it?

i would also be terrified the baby would get it and scrubbing my hands at every turn. i know it sounds sucky but i quarantine one to their room when sick so it doesn't spread. :bummed:

@78h2o: This might be totally wrong, but could she be throwing up because of the fever? My middle child throws up when a fever gets to a certain temp, no matter what. It isn't a stomach virus, but he throws up.

I'm sorry :(

My daughter once had a virus like this (vomiting only at night) for 4-5 days. it was awful - I eventually brought Her in my bed so I could help her get sick into a plastic tub, rather than all over her bed/floor each time - it saved tons of time and energy. We were just careful about hand washing and no one else caught the bug (including the baby). If your baby is breastfed, s/he hopefully has all kinds of awesome immunity from you, which should help a lot!

Puppy piddle pads/hospital bed covers (the absorbent disposable things you lay on postpartum) are great to spread on the bed/floor to help make cleanup easier. You can often find them in the drugstore near disposable adult underwear (depends).

Stay healthy!

I think it's ok for her to be in her own room but I'd at least leave the doors open so I could hear her. Or have DH at least pick up an audio monitor if not sleep near her door or in her room. I'd also call the pediatrician a after hours line. I'd keep baby in your room and try to keep your daughter out of your room and wash hands (use gloves while cleaning if you can.) Hopefully your pediatrician has an answer. I know it's common for fevers to go up at night but I admit this is odd! Hugs!

@78h2o: I'm sorry she's so sick  I think it's fine to have her in her own room. But, I would probably feel more comfortable with a baby monitor so I could hear if she was staring to vomit and go in. Could your husband pick a new one up today maybe? If not, I'm sure she'll be fine. I hope she feels better soon and you and H stay healthy!

This is interesting! My LO had a fever of about 102 a couple days ago and has thrown up in 2 out of the past 5 nights. He's otherwise fine and his fever is gone. I can't figure out what the problem is and neither my husband or I have gotten sick.

BUMP!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. We've never had that happen but hopefully someone has some advice for you. FWIW, I think its fine to let your toddler sleep without worrying about choking.

Also, since she threw up in her bed, I'm scared she'll throw up again and choke or something? Is this a legitimate fear? I'd like to sleep in the room with her (or have her sleep in my room), so I can keep an eye on her, but I have the baby in my room right now and am worried about getting the baby sick. Unfortunately our baby monitor is broken.

Thoughts? Ok to let toddler sleep in her own room, even if she might puke in her sleep... or should she sleep in my room? I could put the baby in the nursery and just leave the doors open so I could hear her cry... maybe that would be best?

Last night my 2.5 year old daughter woke up in the night vomiting. She also had a fever of around 100-101. She vomited 3-4x and then slept the rest of the night. She woke up 100% back to normal. I kept her home from daycare, per their rules, and watched her all day. She ate, drank, and played normally. She went to bed around 9, happy and looking normal, then woke up puking at 10 with a fever (100 under her arm, so 101?) that she didn't have an hour previously.

Anyone had this happen? Is it a virus??

I'm super nervous since I have a 3 week old baby and I am the primary caregiver to both. Last night I was cleaning up puke and comforting my 2 year old when the baby would start crying... I'd go, scrub my hands for a minute, nurse the baby, then hear my 2 year old puking/calling for me again... would put the baby down, go to my 2 year old... and REPEAT. Really hoping the baby (and I) don't get sick!
