We just went though a really bad week as well. A cold and a two year molar = hell. My son is also 28 months. He was possessed for a few of the days. One day woke up from a 30 minute nap thrashing and screaming no no no and wouldn't stop no matter what we did. It went on for 30 mins! In general nothing pleased him, he wouldn't listen to a thing, and he just did whatever the hell he wanted. I know what you mean about spanking. I don't believe in physical discipline but it was really tempting over the weekend. The worst part is I'm 27 weeks pregnant and couldn't even have a glass of wine at the end of the day! It seems my son turned a corner yesterday so I really hope this week is better!

@skibobrown: We just ditched the paci too at 2 years old this week. It was CIO all over again but with a lot of words from LO. We're into the second week of it. Yesterday, he only asked about it once or twice. Before that and most of this week and weekend has been whining.

@Mrs. Yoyo: so glad I'm not the only one! My kids are crazy pants on either end. It's how I know they are getting sick and how I know they are better.

We're in the same boat. DD is a real sweetheart usually, so I feel really bad complaining. Also, in our case we brought it on ourselves by taking away her only real form of comfort. It's actually pretty remarkable how well she's taking the loss of her binkies, all things considered.

@skibobrown: now I feel so spoiled by how sweet she normally is! If this is what other toddler parents deal with on the regular, it is a wonder that everyone isn't one and done.

Ugh. We're with you. DD is the same age, and has also been a horror show for the past week. She hasn't been sick, but the big change in her life has been that we took away her binkies last weekend after the dentist told us they are already ruining her bite. DH and I just want our sweet little girl back, and we're almost ready to pull the binkies back out of their hiding spot. I hope for all of our sakes that our kids stop acting like toddler terrors ASAP.

@Mrs. Yoyo: I so appreciate your reply- I feel guilty about how angry 'normal' toddler behavior can make me. Luckily she typically doesn't push my buttons like this!

I'm betting it will subside. I'm always willing to put my son on the black market before and after he shows symptoms of illness. He's always possessed for a day or two on either end. Hang in there.

She has been very ill- battling 102+ since Tuesday and 104+ since Thursday. Fever broke last night....awesome, right? Of course, except that for the last 24 hours she had been insanely bossy and demanding. Screaming 'no' to everything, throwing something down and screaming at us to 'pick it uuuuuup!!!!' Refusing to follow the most simple direct. I am trying not to be spanking parent but omg.
I know she's still off from being sick and, even though her energy seems fine, I'm sure she's still feeling the after effects. And I also know that our normal tendency to spoil her when she's ill is coming into play, too. I hope to God that is what it is and this is not the beginning of a terrible toddler phase that will last more than a couple days. This is not behavior I can take. The dude does not abide.
