@sorrycharlie: that sounds like us a few months ago. DD learned back to belly and would get "stuck" We would flip her and try to soothe only to have her flip over again. Only time and lots of tummy time and rolling practice during the day made things better. Hang in there!

@littlecasita1122: your LO sounds exactly like us! She is on the verge of crawling and trying so hard to get there. She also is learning to get in and out of sitting position. So tons of stuff going on. I'm so glad the regression passed for you and hopefully things get back to normal for us too.
@matador84: I totally relate. You feel so crummy because you feel like as mommy you should be able to calm and soothe them. I hope things get easier for you. Hopefully it is just a phase

we have the same issue right now. teething hasn't occurred to me as an explanation cause she's been 'teething' for months! but we have the same thing - sobbing during nursing, pushing off me, nothing makes her happy. easy bedtimes have become hellish.

and to add to the problem, she just learned to flip belly to back (she's 7.5 months) and is working on getting up on all 4s. so she'll be hysterical in her crib, get stuck on her belly, repeat. it's awful. we tried teething tablets, tylenol, and gas drops last night. nothing worked!

I did notice another white spot on her lower gums so here's hoping they'll go back to normal soon :( i feel your pain mama!

Sounds like my son the weeks before he cut his two bottom teeth. It could be teething. Hopefully it gets better! I know how frustrating it can be.

Ah I am experiencing the same thing! DS has been crying in his crib for 35 minutes now! It used to be nurse and immediate sleep. He wouldn't nurse and it was only making him more mad. Normally he'd even be asleep by now! It's freaking me out so bad. Plus he is cutting 3 teeth on top (I gave Tylenol and teething tablets, I can barely handle the screaming) and recovering from a stomach bug. I feel like the worst mom ever!

I have an 8 month old as well & we're going through the same thing. Middle of the night wakings have been horrible & she is waking up for the day between 4:30 and 5:30! I can't get her to go back to sleep. It has been torture! I hope it is just a phase and will pass in the next week or so.

Is your LO crawling and starting to pull up yet? We hit a huge sleep regression right around 8 months and I think it was a combo of teething plus the recent milestones he was meeting. It was like his brain couldn't handle all the excitement during the day and then when it came for bedtime, he would cry for 20-30 min when he usually passed out in less than 2 minutes.

Anyways, the regression lasted a little under 2 weeks for us and then he went back to normal! We tried doing checks, rubbing his back once he was in the crib, offering a Nuby ring to chew on, etc but nothing seemed to help during those weeks.

@hilsy85: she just cries and often gets to hysterics :( she usually lasts bout 15-20 minutes and she passes out. DH and I have resorted back to sleep training techniques of going in for checks but those just dont work
.@zippylef: we will try the Tylenol... It's worth a try!

Honestly, it sounds like teething to me. 8 months was the start of our rough sleep patch also. It's a hard age for sleep. There are 2 wonder weeks and a sleep regression between 8-10 months. They are also learning to crawl, pull up, cruise, etc.

C's sleep really went to hell right around the same time.

But yeah, your situation sounds like teeth. C acts about the same. We're going through it with molars right now. Have you tried giving her a dose of Advil or something about 15 minutes before you would be doing your bedtime nursing session? Thats really the only thing that helps C.

For the past two weeks my 8 month old LO has been fighting bedtime. We have the same routine since she was probably two months old of bath, books, bedtime nursing and bed. Previously she went down easy either asleep or relaxed enough that she put herself to sleep once in her crib. For the past two weeks, however, the last nursing session has become really difficult. She will pop on and off inbetween uncontrollable crying. I will try to soothe her by switching sides or just holding her but she pushes me away and just cries harder and wants no part of my cuddles or holding her :( I usually end up having to put her down because I feel like I am just making things worse and it breaks my heart to hear her crying every night. I miss our peaceful sleepy nursing sessions!

Has anyone gone through something like this? Is she dropping a nursing session? What else can I do to soothe her when she seems inconsolable?
