But I understand your annoyance. My mom calms my son “my baby” sometimes and it doesn’t bother me at all (it’s just a sweet sentiment!). But if my MIL said that it would bother me more. Most of the time she says it about both of us but occasionally calls just DD "her girl." But we all have a great relationship with my mom, so it's never seemed weird, forced or territorial. Just a sweet way to refer to us. </p> <p>If my MIL said it I can imagine I might feel a little annoyed but that's because we don't have a great relationship with her to begin with. So depending on your relationship with you MIL I could understand being annoyed. Also last time she came to visit she made a big deal of saying how she had to get down here to see "her boys", while hugging my DH. I feel like this may be petty, but it annoys me!!</p> <p>Do your parents or ILs refer to your LOs as "my"? Does it bother you? </p>
