If you are pregnant and have high blood pressure, protein in you urine is a symptom of pre-eclampsia and is quite serious. I hope you get some answers soon. How far along are you?

So I called the doctor and they told me to go in and be checked. My BP when I got there was 181/96. Fortunately it did go down to about 149/80. They did a few tests and said I did have "a small trace of protein in my urine"
They sent me home with stuff to do a 24 hour urine collection and I have to go back tomorrow and be monitored again.
Other then pregnancy hypertension what could cause protien in my urine? Do you guys know?

@cyoung: if you are pregnant (or recently postpartum), please go to OB triage ASAP for a preeclampsia work up. High BP, swelling and headache is a very concerning combination.

I’m a dummie - you’re on my due date board! Please please go in!!

You might be able to take your machine in to your doctor or pharmacist to get it calibrated. That way you know if the reading is accurate or not.

I honestly would go in just for peace of mind. All those symptoms together could be a sign of pre-e.

Are you pregnant? If not, I wouldn't worry. My BP is often more elevated when I am sick or uncomfortable. I've had doctors tell me that's not unusual.

Most providers want to know if you see a reading of 140/80 or higher. I'd call your OB.

When you take your BP, make sure you have been seated or laying for at least 10 minutes, take cleansing, deep breaths before and during the reading, and make sure none of your limbs are crossed. Is it still high when you do all those things?

If so, call your doc (you may want to call either way). My doc had me go in for hospital monitoring at 140.

So long story short my blood pressure is a bit high today. The average is about 140/93 ish. I normally have 120/70 BP.

I have had some random swelling I my feet and legs. I assumed it was from salt intake. I did have some things with lots of salt those days. What made me concerned is I have a slight headache. Nothing bad. I threw up suddenly this morning and dizzy for a few hours afterward. Im fine now. I thought it was a stomach bug. My son had one this weekend. However I'm fine and have no thrown up since.
I'm just thinking maybe my machine is wrong or maybe I'm on edge or somthing.
I guess my question is should I be concerned? I've taken my BP about 2 times I the past few hours.
