The lower left side of my right breast started aching/is tender the past 2-3 days too, but I'm not sick even though I've had a semi-runny nose and sneeze like crazy (thanks Winter allergies). No fever for me so far, but I'm prone to clogged ducts so I'm keeping my eye out!

@Mrs. Chocolate: hmm...it's tough because it sounds like you're already sick! I would maybe give it a day, with maybe pumping if LO goes a long time between feedings and doing hot compresses on your breasts, and if you still worry about it tomorrow, maybe call your OB?>

Do you have any red/tender spots on your breasts? If it's mastitis, look for a red spot (possibly under your breast, might be hard to see so ask DH to help).

We moved DD out of our bedroom this past weekend. We are all battling a flu/cold/virus thing and she started immediately sleeping a lot longer which might have to do with being sick or just sleeping better in her own room without the noise of my husband and 2 dogs in the same room to wake her up. So needless to say her feedings have started to go a lot longer for me. She use to do 2 1/2-3 hours all throughout the night. For the past few days since she moved out she has done a feeding around 9-10ish then nothing till 2 and then nothing again til around 5-6ish. Today she actually did the 2 o'clock one and then one at 4:30 which I was happy about as I got to empty the other breast and then woke up around 840ish and I fed her around 9 both breasts. My breasts feel very achy this morning though. I had a hard time falling asleep last night from coughing and fever and whatnot. When I finally did fall asleep the first time it was close to 2 so she woke me up and I had to drag myself out of bed which was hard. I know at one point I did try sleeping on my tummy which probably wasnt a great idea but I was getting desperate for sleep. Is this achiness a warning for mastitis since her feedings have started to stretch so much or is it just because I feel so run down and sick to begin with? Should I be trying to get antibiotics because the last thing I need right now is mastitis on top of this flu thing.
