One of my cats does something like this with his bowls! He doesn't just move them, though, he loves to bang them together, particularly at 2 or 3 am and it is so. annoying. He's basically a big nuisance in so many ways, though, lol -- he also loves to claw our new couch, gallop back and forth through all of the rooms of our apartment in the middle of the night, and knock over anything that isn't nailed down. We had to put weights in the bottom of our trash can! Good thing he's cute... just like your little guy :-)

@KT326: Thanks! I just bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/Drinkwell-DOGW-RE-Big-Dog-Pet-Fountain/dp/B000FGIUV0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361556274&sr=8-1&keywords=big+dog+fountain

We have a large dog too, so I'm hoping I can just get rid of the rest of the water bowls and all the animals can use this! It was a great price too. Only $43 instead of $75. I hope this will stop Mr Poopypants from spilling water everywhere, lol.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: We have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Drinkwell-360-Fountain-Stainless-Steel/dp/B002SB91QS/ref=pd_sim_petsupplies_1

Its big but we have two pretty large cats. Also, I got it when it was on sale for $45. We have tried a few others but this one seems to be the best.

@KT326: that's what I was thinking of getting them. But they're so expensive for a glorified water bowl! Lol. Any recs?

@Sophia: haha, the things we do for our animals right? He doesn't like to drink from the tap. He does like sticking his head in our cups, so getting him his own cup might help.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Oh, and her preferred drinking method is to drink straight from the tap in the bathroom. She will honestly jump up on the counter, assume her drinking position, and glare at me until I turn the water on to a slow drip. She is one special cat, I swear.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: One of our cats used to do this when she was a kitten, too! It drove me insane. She didn't just do it to her own water though, she would knock over any beverage that she saw...if you looked away for even a second, down it would go! She also looooved hair ties...she'd steal one from me, carry it around in her mouth for awhile, and then drop it on top of her food dish or in her water bowl! She'll still race to the bathroom when she hears me open the drawer to get one out!

It looks like you've already done this, but what worked for us was to move the water dish away from the food. We also found randomly that she prefers to drink from a regular drinking glass than from a bowl. We have two cats now, and they are spoiled rotten. They drink most of their water on the bathroom counter...we have a glass that's always filled for them and a bowl, too. We also have two bowls of water in the kitchen, but I don't think they ever drink from them.

Our cat would do the same thing with his water bowl! He just wanted the water to be moving. We finally got a drinking fountain for them. Both cats love it and we haven't had any water spills.

I think you just described my cat! She is almost 3 years old and was much worse when she was a kitten, but boy oh boy she is like a second child! She used to drag her entire water bowl around and make a mess too, as well as the hair ties! She finds my hair ties no matter where I hide them and even puts those in her water and food bowl. She cries in our faces in the middle of the night and is just generally a pain sometimes! She has also ate through about $200 worth of apple products. It does get better as they get older though...sort of ;)

So I have a kitten who is 7 months old and I love him so much, but he is seriously getting on my last nerve. I can deal with wiping his dingleberries off (gross, I know) because he's a bobtail, him coming in the middle of the night and laying on my face(I think he's trying to suffocate me), and stealing all my hair ties to play with them. I just cannot deal with how he purposely drags the water bowls around and sloshes water everywhere!

He spilled water twice this morning, I put a dish towel under it and he "buried" the water bowl with it! Augh.

I don't know if he drags it to get the water moving so he can drink it or if he is bored or what! Why can't he be like our other cat, who so daintily dips her paw in the water to drink?

Anyone have this problem with their cat?

Here he is mocking me:
