We tried to change that with one of our cats and were told by our vet (and a couple others we asked second opinions from) that there isn't really a way to break that. My suggestion would be to get a cat door. Even fixing the fence wont help because, well, he's a cat. He can climb fences. We had to learn to deal with the fact that we now had an outside cat and while we never got a cat door (although I wish we did. We've stopped letting our cats outside because of heat, disobedience, snakes, cougars and them always killing birds. And our male cat is constantly whining. It's so annoying! Hopefully I'll collect some ideas from this thread as well. He busted a hole through the screen door twice! It is at the hardware store being replaced again! Maybe you can keep a spray water bottle nearby and squirt him if he starts up? That helps with ours, but he can still drive you crazy. Well, last week he found a spot in the fence through which he can escape. He spent one whole night outside (we searched for him for ages but finally had to go to bed) and several hours the other day when our city was under a heat alert. So, we've stopped letting him outside.</p> <p>Well, today, I'm sitting on the patio with DD napping in the living room. I have the screen door open so I can hear her and the cat is sitting at the door crying non-stop to be let our. Ugh! He's driving me absolutely insane and I'm worried he's going to wake DD. I guess I better figure out a way to keep him in the yard, otherwise it's going robe a LONG, annoying summer! </p>
