Can you get a little lunch bag with the frozen ice packs so it stays cold? I had to do for awhile cause our fridges smelled so bad, I wouldn't put my food in there. The cleaning people weren't cleaning it out like they were supposed too.

@mrbee: love it!

I would do what mr.bee said. Ha! Then get the locked lunch box and put the note on it or on the fridge.

Like others, a lunch box/cooler. I would also suggest that you send out an e-mail saying basically what you told us. You have noticed that your labeled food has gone missing from the fridge and that although you don't mind sharing that you want to be asked first.

I had a similar problem in college when living with a bunch of other girls, although in that instance the culprit opted to buy beer instead of food so she'd sneak other peoples'.

I would put some unlabeled chocolate exlax in the fridge. Then keep any eye on the bathroom to spot your culprit.

@septemberlove: one thing that I know helps at our office is to put your food in a lunch box or cooler and then in the fridge. I think it's easy to grab/steal when you can see it but I doubt she would go into a lunch box.

I was going to suggest an email like @Anagram:

I also like the other suggestions of putting your food in a bag-makes it no so tempting since you can't see it.

Oh, I would totally get a luggage lock and attach a note like the one @Anagram posted. Make that thief feel really guilty - I mean seriously, who steals food from a pregnant lady?!

I like the idea of a lunch bag. I've just been bringing in a plastic bag on Mondays with my food for the week and putting it on a shelf in the fridge, where it's visible to anyone who opens the fridge. I wonder if keeping everything in a lunchbox/small soft side cooler would keep it out of sight, out of mind enough to prevent the pilfering. If not, I may opt for the lock or just try to find more stuff that doesn't require refrigeration. I can't imagine taking someone's zipped up lunch box out of the fridge and digging through it (but then again, I can't imagine knowingly eating my pregnant coworker's dinner, knowing full well she would be at work until 8 or later).

Send out a nice but firm email. One of my coworkers did this last year because someone started to eat her foods and even her drink (she brought 1 drink a day for her lunch and would put it in the fridge).

She was also pregnant, and she made the email funny but clear--- something along the lines of, " it seems like someone believes i am eating and drinking too many liquids and is trying to stage an intervention by eating my lunch for me. While I appreciate your concern, I assure you that pregnant women need to eat lunch too and my doctor is in board with that. Please leave my food where I put it in the fridge".

Everyone at work was so enraged on her behalf and we all were going to star watching the break room to see who went in and our--- but then it never happened again!

Like @sunny said I would seriously bring a lock. Because then the culprit knows you've caught on and hopefully it will shame her into not stealing. How annoying! Like get a cooler bag and wrap one of those bicycle locks around it lol.

Omg seriously?!? That is so rude! How about putting everything in a lunch bag that is zipped up? You could put your name on the outside and inside put a note saying "for pregnant ladies only!". If it gets really bad maybe put a luggage lock on it?!?

Or if you are self conscious about the luggage lock, you could put a locked bag inside a larger cooler bag. Does that make sense?

I work in a fairly small office and right now it's tax season. So for most of us, the hours are long and the days are crazy.

My firm pays for a couple of meals a week (not lunches) but other than those couple meals, you're on your own when working late. I've been bringing in food for the week on Mondays, since I grocery shop on the weekends. I try to find convenient but healthy snacks since time is at a premium and for dinners, I opt for soups or frozen meals. I put my initials on anything I keep in the communal kitchen.

I've noticed lately that people are pilfering my food! I don't know what to do since I'm not totally sure who is doing it. I brought in Hot Pockets for a dinner and when I went to eat them, they were totally gone! And I mean gone, not just hidden beneath something else in the freezer.

I kind of think it was one of our admins. She tells people all the time that she's going to eat their food. She goes through everything in the fridge and makes comments about what people eat that day. It's not a money issue for her, she can afford to feed herself. She just comments that she's still hungry after eating her lunch.

It's not even just the Hot Pockets. I keep yogurts, string cheeses, and other individually packaged, labeled with my initials, items in the fridge the go missing.

I don't mind sharing if asked (although the day the admin asked if she could eat my frozen dinner I said no, since that was my dinner for the evening and she leaves at 2!) but I'm not being asked and I'm pregnant, which is why I keep a supply of snacks on hand, I need to make sure I'm eating properly!

What would you do? Am I overreacting? I keep as much as I can stored in my desk, but for refrigerated items, it's just not an option :(
