This is a tip I just read from my monthly email from TheBump.com - "Let your toddler buckle in a stuffed friend before climbing in the car seat - it might make her feel better about buckling up too."

Could it be possible that she is feeling carsick? I just read this post not too long ago, which made me think of it.

http://thisplaceisnowahome.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/she-says-you-learn-something-new-every-day/

You said something about how it changed when she sat upright,. That could be a big difference in how the movement of the car feels to her.

I don't find a difference in the type of car seat, to be honest. We switched our 10 month old at about 8 months because the usefulness of the bucket was gone. I really think it has to do with attention span and the kidlets becoming more aware of their surroundings.

My LO has been rebelling against the car seat as well the last few weeks so we also decided to switch to a convertible carseat (facing back still). It sits up higher and is roomier so cross my fingers that it stops the tantrums.

Claire HATES being in the carseat too. So unless someone is able to sit in the back with her to distract and play with her (toys only work for about 5 mins), I refuse to take her on car rides longer than 15 minutes because she will scream and scream.

I have some friends whose kids had the same problem, and they tell me that it only got better when they switched to forward-facing. We might just have to do that in the next few months if we can't find another solution, especially with the cold weather on the way and we know we'll be using the car more.

I guess I'll have to take the convertible carseat out the box. I thought it would make its debut a little later. I'll try that and see if it helps

I was just going to suggest a convertible seat. Shell need it eventually anyway, and she'll be able to see more than in the bucket seat.

My daughter will be 6 months old tomorrow and we switched to a convertible car seat last week and she loves it. Many babies enjoy them more because they sit up a little more (tho still reclined) and the baby can see more of what's going on.

Charlie was like this too. Only one thing worked: bringing lots of distractions, like toys he likes + cups of ice.

Oh and also, peek a boo! Charlie was so distracted playing peekaboo, he forgot to scream and yell as usual!

Now Charlie loves cars btw... so I guess his car hating days were a phase. Phew!

She used to love car rides and was okay in sitting in her car seat. It stopped once she was able to sit up on her own, around 5 months. Now everytime we have to
Go anywhere in the car, which is often, she cries and screams, and she's not a screamer or a cry baby. Maybe I've spoiled her already by soothing her in my lap. She always wants to sit with me. I can't take her on my
Own anywhere! Anyone else have this problem?
