Thanks ladies! I just dropped it in his mouth.

OMG! So he just pooped! Finally. First time in 7 days and boy was it a doozy. Hopefully this means the gas is gone and he'll sleep better tonight!

@scg00387: Ok, got the probiotics. how do I give them to him, if I breastfeed? He can get them M-F in his bottle while I'm at work, but the weekends I always just nurse him.

Still no poo. He doesn't seem to be too bothered by gas anymore. I've been doing a lot of the massaging and that seems to help him pass the gas.

@mrskc: you're welcome! I wanted to add that you should never massage upwards through the midsection or counterclockwise. Always follow the direction that things pass through the digestive tract. Hope your LO feels better soon!

@Sammyfab: thank you for this! I'll give these a try.

@MamaMoose: thank you! Will definitely try these too. I was rubbing his belly and doing bicycles but wasn't sure if there were other massage techniques I could try.

Like @hilsy85: gripe water is much more effective for us than gas drops. But massage is the biggest helper. Bicycle his legs... then put them in a frog postition and push them up toward his belly.. then hold the knees together and do circles... then hold the knees together and roll them to one side while holding down the opposite shoulder (do this to both sides)... and then just rub his belly in circular motions. This almost always helps my LO get a poop out.

We learned a lot of different massage techniques to relieve gas and indigestion. They worked well for my LO! Here are a few:

I Love You: use two fingers with your right hand and draw a straight line (I) along the left side of his belly (your right). Then draw an upside down L starting at the bottom right (his right/your left) and go up and to your right. Then draw an upside down U starting at the bottom right (your left). Repeat 4-5 times.

Water Wheel - using the sides of your hands and gently massage down his tummy starting just below his ribs. Alternate your hands.

The Sun and the Moon- draw a clockwise circle using two fingers (the sun) and a half circle (the moon). Start both at the top.

L went through something very similar...gas drops did nothing but gripe water seemed to help, as did burping him well before laying him down to sleep. Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon!

@mrskc: ii honestly forget because we haven't needed to use them in so long but they were the only kind at my local BRU. It said .3ml and I double doses it all the time in order for it to work.

@TurtleDoves: What brand gas drops do you use? I wonder if it's something I'm eating, but I haven't changed my diet in 6 months and we've hardly had an issue before. Maybe I've had more chocolate than normal. I will try rubbing his belly and moving his legs.

@chopsuey119: If I drink prune juice, that can help him? I guess it's worth a try.

@scg00387: @coacheswife123: Are there probiotics meant for babies? I never bought them before. Are they where the baby gas drops would be? What brand do you use?

My son will be 6 months in just a little over a week. He's still exclusively breastfed, no solids yet. I know it's normal for them to go up to 8 days with out pooping. He had a very large, runny, yellow bowel movement last Saturday (?) so 6 days ago. Then had a small one on Monday, 4 days ago.

But he's been having really bad gas the last couple of days. It's like he needs to poo, but isn't. I've never smelled such raunchy farts from him before. Like last night the toots started around bath time. Very potent, I thought he was going to poop, but didn't.

Around 8 PM, I finally got him to sleep in his crib. he woke up at 9 PM crying. Just inconsolable even though I was holding him. He was arching his back. He let out some farts and relaxed a little. Same thing happened at 10 pm & 11 pm. I eventually brought him to our bedroom and he slept in the pack n play. He woke up at 1 am, 3 am, & 5 am and I nursed him each time. I heard more farts from him throughout the night, but he didn't cry out like he did earlier.

I just don't know how to help him! What can I do? Give him drops? Is there any kind of massage I can do to help? He's never had a problem like this before. Is this normal???

Sorry this is so long.
