Even though she was comparatively small. And yet she had a 99th percentile head (yeah, ouch). It was really bewildering to get all of those comments. She also has a ton of hair. I think people in general are really bad at judging age vs size (and also milestones). Both parents and non-parents. For parents their sample size includes their number of kids. For non-parents it includes kids you don't see everyday (like relatives) and in both groups your basis of comparison can be so skewed. I guess sometimes their skirts are short bc they are also skinny (9th and 25th percentile)?!? My son frankly dwarfs hers in size- he is pretty big- 99%ile in weight and 90th in length. And for some reason she had it in her mind that her child was so much bigger. She said in front of all the teachers, I can't believe how little he is compared to hers. All of the teachers looked at me like WTF? Literally cannot go out in public without at least one person stopping to say HOW OLD IS HE? ARE YOU SURE HE'S NOT TWO???? (when he was one, etc.).<br /> It is very tiresome. I don't know what your friend's motivation is, but babies and size stuff - weird, I'm telling ya. </p>
