@mamimami: Yah constipation can affect pee too! The same muscles have to relax in order for both to happen, so if a child is withholding poop... it can make it harder to relax and pee too. There are a bunch of other physiological connections too, but that's the big one for potty training I believe.

We're wrestling with a situation very similar to what you described, and are going to treat her mild constipation with Miralax and hope that helps things along!

If you figure out what's going on, let me know - maybe that's our issue too! Troubleshooting this stuff can be so frustrating!!

@lavender: My son did go through a regression at one point but it seemed... different. Like now my daughter's like IN YOUR FACE MAMI! Maybe it's just my imagination. It just seems so intentional.

Our daycare provider told us that a lot of children go through a regression after they are potty trained but get back on track after that said regression.

@mrbee: Not dark. Brown with a tinge of yellow?

Would constipation affect the pee situation though?

@mamimami: Hmm hard to tell definitely, type 3 can still be a sign of constipation.

Gross question number two: how dark is it?

@mrbee: hahahaha had to google that. Between 3-4? She did have some loose stools last week but that seems to be over.

@mamimami: Kind of a gross question (sorry!), but where does her poop fall on the Bristol stool scale?

Seriously. My 2 yo (26 months) was already occasionally using the potty, then over Thanksgiving we got more serious and by Christmas vacation she had several days with no accidents at school or at home.

The last couple of days she has totally resisted the potty. She's like a camel! She can hold it forever. She just sat there for A WHOLE episode of Daniel Tiger and nothing. Then 5 minutes later she peed herself massively. She has done the same thing (pee and poop) multiple times the last two days. (Sits there and then gets up and has an accident minutes later.)

She has not put anything in the potty since maybe Saturday?
