Poor little guy! Thankfully kids heal quickly from these things. maybe start him back at school for mornings only and then take him back for afternoons once he perks up a bit? I bet his cast will get lots of extra attention from his friends, which could be fun for him :)

Poor lil' fella! I agree with @sarac:
I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. It's tough figuring out how to manage work and deal with a handicapped toddler at home.

Poor kid. If this were mine, I would immediately suspend all tv rules and let her pretty much go to town. Anything to keep a toddler quiet and entertained without running around.

I'm so sorry this happened. My little brother broke his leg at a similar age, and it ended up not being a big deal for him at all. He just ran around as normally as he could and didn't seem affected by it much at all. Maybe after he gets used to the cast, your director might feel a but more comfortable with it and he can go back full time?

Oh I'm so sorry :-( Poor guy! How is he feeling? After about a week, he should start feeling much better and be used to it and wanting to run around. Maybe keep him at home for the 1st 1/2 of the day for this week (since he'll need his rest to heal that leg), and then see about taking him in twice a day.

@looch: The director was not terribly clear on which times would be ok or if both would work. We live just a 5min walk from the school, so it would be possible, I suppose, to take him twice per day. My thought is that if he were home in the afternoon he would probably nap better than if he were to nap at school. He can easily nap 2-3 hours at home, but I think it's more like 1-2 hours at school.

@T.H.O.U.: I asked about pushing him in the stroller to the park, but the new school session just started this week and so there are a few new kids (young 2 year olds) and the teachers need all their hands free to be able to deal with them. The park is about 10min walking from the school, so while it isn't far, they still have to cross streets and look out for traffic.

Oh no! How traumatising for you both! (Probably you more than him!). My nephew broke his leg at 2, he wasn't in daycare so just kept quiet at home, I think he was spoilt with lots of new books, puzzles... Lego?
Hope he is otherwise feeling ok.
