Yeah, I'd just buy a little potty, put her in panties, and just go for it. Maybe try to stay home for a few days and really focus on it. But she's clearly ready.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to talk to the daycare director and LO's teacher when I pick her up today, and I ordered her some undies on Amazon and we'll go for it this weekend since she seems so eager, and SO proud of herself when she goes on the potty.

WE only do pullups at nap/night time, we went straight to undies and it worked for us. Also, we went straight for the "big potty" and my best advice is skip the seat, just use the toilet. It took us awhile to break DD of the "princess" seat and honesty when out and about you want them to be able to sit down on a regular toilet! I will skip it next time for sure.

Since she seems ready and willing, what about a modified version of the 3 day method? Take her to pick out some big girl underwear (I don't see the point of pull ups), make a big deal out of it and then devote a weekend to potty training. We did the 3 day method with DS and he went bottomless the whole time (it was summer) and I let him drink tons of juice and things he normally doesn't get so that he would have to go. I had him go to the potty at least every 15 minutes (or if he wanted to), and he figured out pee in one day! We also have m&ms as a reward. Our experience was really positive and much faster than I ever thought it would be.

All of that said, I didn't bother with night or nap training and we just kept him in diapers until he was waking up dry, which was within 2 months or so for night and less than a month for naps.

DD regressed at one point, but was back on board after I bought Disney princess and Dora underwear. I also agree in the beginning times intervals is important. I no longer have to. Also even if you are going to put her in pull-ups for outings, try to make a habit of using the potty beforehand, and asking if she has to use the potty when you are somewhere near a restroom.

What do they suggest at daycare? We talked to the director about it and she recommended no pull ups, just underwear, with timed intervals.

It worked fine, we didn't even need to use a reward.

@Freckles: @shellio: Thanks for the advice! I asked around at work, and parents seem split on pull-ups, so I figured I would ask here. LO is *very* excited about the prospect of “big girl” underwear - one of her friends at daycare is potty-trained and has undies, and now LO wants undies too. Our ped said use that to our advantage, so maybe I will go ahead and order some and we can try them out this weekend! Eeek! I’m nervous but excited.

Its great that she is ready!! I would probably just go all out while she is awake and start putting her in little training underwear. Then ask frequently if she wants to go. If she is so interested, I don't think this would be pushing her at all, just taking the next step. Pull ups for car rides or longer trips away. If she would get excited about it you could make a big deal about the big girl undies - my DS never cared about that but I know it works well for some people. For nap time and bedtime, just stick with the diaper and don't even make a big deal about it. My ped told us to stay with the diaper until he goes 30 days with a dry diaper at every single wakeup, even after he is totally potty trained during the day, which is fine with us.

if you're okay with messes, skip the pullups and go straight to underwear. Pullups only stalled the training process! Good luck!

LO is 32 months old, so plenty ready age-wise to potty train. I am firmly in the camp of not pushing potty training, but we’ve been talking about it (pee/poo on potty, wiping, etc.) for months now with her. We’ve had a toddler potty in the house for a looooong time, which LO has showed basically no interest in using, although she does go potty at daycare during the day for several weeks now.

Just yesterday, LO told DH 2 times during the day straight up that she needed to “go pee on the potty”, and did the same with me before bed. Totally unprompted, and all 3 times she went pee right away!! The other night she also made me take her out of the bath because she needed/wanted to use the potty.

So….what do I do now??!!! I made up a sticker reward potty-chart, which LO is pretty excited about. And, I asked her this morning when she woke up if she wanted to use the potty, which she did (but she had already peed in her diaper).

Do I need to move her into pull-ups soon? What are my next steps?

What worked best for you and your LO? I feel clueless about this……
