@winniebee: I'm doing the one with the 16wk draw too. Thank you. It's nice to hear this from you, since our situations are so similar. This was the info I was looking for!

@junebugmama: what testing did you opt for? there's one type with just the NT scan and first blood draw and then the series sequential where they do 2 blood draws and then you find out the results after 16 weeks (but they are supposedly higher rate of accuracy).

Good luck!

I went for my NT scan at a separate office, too. Having had a prior loss, I was very nervous for this scan (since my scan occurred at 12 wks, 2 days...and I knew if I could make it that far, I would feel better). The scan itself was great, despite having a very full bladder (and I was gassy that day so the pressure of the ultrasound wand on my stomach hurt). We got to see the baby for almost 30 minutes and the tech pointed out stuff to us (like brain, heart, ribs, spine, legs, fingers, etc). She also measured the nuchal fold and did tell us right away what the measurement was (1.4 and anything under 3 is supposedly normal). She reassured us that everything looked great. The baby was super active (blame it on my morning cup of joe...) so that was pretty fun. We also got some good pics to bring home.

I had a blood draw that same day and will have another blood draw at 16 weeks to complete the series sequential testing. My doctor will call me with the results soon thereafter.

Thank you ladies. I guess I'm just going to have to wait to see what this facility does.

I had my NT scan done at the high risk OB (not my regular OB) because they were the ones who were certified to read the results. They took multiple ultrasound pictures/measurements of the baby, luckily the baby was laying in a good position to get the measurement so it was a pretty quick visit. The tech then consulted with a doctor, and told us everything looked normal. She said if there was a question about it being abnormal, they would have advised us that day and made an appointment for a CVS test. Then I had blood drawn, and we got those results about 3 days later, which gave us our personalized ratio of the chance that the fetus has Downs or Trisomy 13/18, based on the NT scan measurements, my age, family history, etc.

i went in for an ultrasound. they looked at what seemed like every part of the baby. even the blood/placenta/ambilical cord (some thermal looking colors). i heard some people were told guesses as to what the sex was - but they never tried to guess with me. at the end of the visit, i had to get one of my fingers pricked (sheesh, it hurts! but i'm a wimp)... they did tell me that the neck looked good. then i had to set up an appointment for week 16 with the hospital. your ob is supposed to schedule a blood test or something on your week 16 as well.

the doctor told us the results were good a few days after i did the week 16 blood test.

i had the nt scan done at the hospital. had my ob appointment the next day and she was able to print me out a report. which told me what the % was of having down syndrome.

I'm not sure why I'm feeling nervous (although I really always am), but my NT scan is this Friday and I'm not sure what to expect.

After multiple miscarriages I'm just so excited to have made it this far, I'm hoping that everything will be ok. Will they tell you right away if it isn't, or do you have to wait to hear from your doctor. (Assuming it's common that the NT scan is not done at your regular office)
