@Mamaof2: Yup, we have that one too :) Feet were a much bigger problem for us than hands. But I did buy the whole set when I found them and figured it was worth having on hand.

It's common for the age. Lots of good advise here already. Also, for us we stopped all "mouth play" with our daughter during this phase. We didn't kiss all over her or blow raspberries on her anymore. We attempted to draw the line at our mouths don't go on other people's bodies.

We also used the book "Teeth are not for Biting" by Elizabeth Verdick. We also had to use the book "Feet are not for Kicking" by the same author :)

I would loudly say "Ouch - biting hurts" and then hand her something she can bite on like a teether. If she is teething she may be doing purely because it feels good.

Do you think he's biting to get your attention? If so I would firmly say no and then ignore him so he realizes that biting does not get your attention

mine was a big old bitey mcbiterson as well right around 1 - I do think at that age it's a teething/mouth exploration thing. We did "mouths are for kissing, not for biting" and give her big sloppy kisses and then she'd laugh. Eventually she stopped doing it.

We went through this as well! And why does it always happen in the kitchen?! lol What seemed to work for us was gently saying no and redirecting. His biting seemed to be worse with teething so I would give him a cold teether or something like that to put in his mouth instead. He never meant harm by biting he just didn't know better so I didn't want to be too harsh with him. At 14 months he hardly ever bites anymore.

We had a biting phase and he does it occasionally but it's not to be mean. Timeouts worked really well for us.

Mine went through a biting phase. Only at day care, then it stopped, then she bit me 3 times on vacation. I think the book on biting really helped R. They have to learn that biting hurts. Fingers crossed she seems over it now.

@StbHisMrs: My son went through a biting phase but he never bit me, only other kids that stole his toys. Sounds like your LO might be biting out of curiosity of due to teething. I'd suggest offering your LO lots of different items for teething. There are also good books on biting that you can read to them.

It's probably not the popular advice, but my mom bit us all back. Not enough to break skin or anything, but enough to let us realize that hey, this hurts! She said we never bit again...

I have a biter on my hands and I don't know what to do about it! It hurts, she bites my thighs/butt while I'm in the kitchen cooking or doing dishes. I've not had an incessant biter before!!
