You are definitely allowed to feel confused and sad, and confused by your family's reaction of seemingly writing her off, especially your dad since it was he who brought her into your life in the first place. It is entirely up to you if you'd like her to be in your LO's life. My friend had a similar situation and they include his former step mom as another grandma, and take their LO to see her. Best of luck dealing with this- it's never easy to have divorce in the family, but you will get through it. It's been tough at times balancing them getting grandparent time, but we are pretty good at making effort to ensure we communicate with both and see them as well. It still seriously sucks (and it doesn't help I blame my Mom for it all) and I try not to think about the step parent part of things so much as I want him to have a role in C's life (she's 10m old now) as "Grandpa" and that is really important to me. I have 3 step grandparents (not to mention parents OF stepparents), 4 technically but one grandparent and his wife chose not to have anything to do with his family. </p> <p>Family means a lot more to me than just blood. I really never thought I would go through another divorce after my parents divorced when I was 5. 2nd time seemed the charm for my whole family. After some rough patches it seemed like everyone was happy.
