Sounds good to me! I think you can make a game-time call about 10 mins vs. 15 mins of hard crying in the MOTN based on how hard she is crying, how you are feeling about it, if she's escalating, etc. Or do the Ferber method of lengthening the intervals each time... ie 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 mins.

@scotchbonnet: Ok, the reason I asked is because you might want to have a middle step. We sleep trained after co-bedding for 6 months (and then continued to co-bed after the first wake up). We felt like it would be too much of a change to expect her to put herself to sleep AND sleep in a new, unknown place.
We ended up laying in bed with her while she CIO, until she could put herself to sleep, and then we started putting her in the crib.
Just a though. Your babe might transition really well. Good luck! Its tough to do on your own! Load up the ipod

If she wakes up after 30 mins for a nap, give her 10-15 mins and see if goes back to sleep. We do that. If the crying starts, then we know she won't go back to sleep. The rest of the plan sounds good!

I think it sounds like a solid plan. By co sleeping do you just mean same room, or same bed?@scotchbonnet:

hello bees who have sleep trained, would you kindly tell me if I am on the right track with this sleep training plan below. I have bought and read too many books on baby sleep and It's all jumbled up in my head.

A little back story/ context: lo is 5 months old and has always been a poor sleeper. However, the past 2 weeks , she has gone from waking up 4-5 times a night to 8-10 times a night. I had heard about the 4 month sleep regression, but I didn't realise how bad it would be.

I nap trained prior to the regression and she was putting herself to sleep for naps for like a week. Then all of a sudden she just wouldn't do it anymore.

Sleeping arrangements: currently co-sleeping (we are staying at my mom's place for the next month), but there is another room that I can sleep in to end co-sleeping.

Plan: for day time naps, I plan to nurse, read a book, cuddle for a minute and then put her down. Let her cry it out with checks at 2 minutes, then 10 minute intervals after that. When I go to check on her I plan to shush and pat her on the back a few times, then walk out again. Sound about right?

Question: what do I do if she then wakes up early from a nap, say after only 30-45 mins and doesn't seem rested?

Night training: l plan to do the same as nap time (preceded by a bath, lotion, pj routine).

I plan to feed at 4 hour intervals.

If she wakes up before 4 hours. I will let her fuss/ cry at 10 minute intervals. Does that sound about right or should I Ieave her a bit longer, say 15 mins of hard crying?

Also, keep in mind that I will be doing this all by myself day and night. I have a 10 day window when I am alone with lo in the middle of February, and that is when I plan to do this.

Thanks in advance for your input. My baby and I getting no sleep and so I appreciate any tips to help this training go well.
