@Meltini: I pretty much do this. If she does it once, I say no, that hurts mommy. If she does it a second time we are done with that side.

I find she bites more when she is pretty much done and just comfort nursing anyway so I watch for cues of that too. It really sucks but with c it's usually just a couple of times per new tooth, so far at least.

This happened with us too, and happens again to a lesser extent whenever she gets a new tooth. I do the "OUCH, please don't bite mom" and pop her off every time she bites. I don't know if that works, but she does it less now, I think! Not a fun phase at all though. It's like feeding a wild animal, hahaha.

I hear you on the biting, it's a terrible phase! I had some luck with unlatching A, putting her down and walking away (so she worked out that biting resulted in a negative response) and I reduced / eliminated her "snack" feeds so she was definitely hungry when we nursed (she wouldn't fluff around if she was hungry as opposed to just comfort nursing or snacking).

The good news is that it will pass, we're still nursing at nineteen months and I haven't been bitten in a long time!!

You have my sympathies. LO 2 still bites a lot at 12 months.

You have my sympathies.

I deal with this on and off with my LO every time he starts cutting another tooth. We just went through a particularly rough patch where I nearly weaned him.

What works varies day to day but some things that have helped:
-frozen crinkle fries, if LO bit me more than once while nursing, I'd put him in his high chair and let him gum some frozen crinkle fries. The cold and the texture are very soothing and once it melts, it's very soft and he never got choked on it.
-breast milk cubes in a mesh feeder, again, the cold felt really nice on his gums.
-teething rings, not a huuuge success but occasionally he'd take one
-teething tablets, I'd give him a few of these and then nurse him and all would be well
-cool purée pouches, I'd give him one of these and then nurse after wards and it would ease the discomfort so he didn't feel so inclined to chomp

I'd unlatch him every time he bit and tell him no, with varying degrees of success. The early days of teething, telling him no was useless. I just had to grin and bear it but offering him some sort of relief and then resuming nursing helped, but unfortunately for us it's still an issue from time to time.

Our pediatrician recommended popping D off and telling him "No biting Mommy." in a firm voice and then let him latch again. If he does it again she said to do the same thing but put the boob away. So far it has worked for us. Good luck.

Eeek for me biting teeth .= weaning.
you will have to wean eventually so he will have to get used to eating another way whether its now or in 6 months.
That's what I would do, if you want to persevere then I take my hat off to you, I don't know any tips on getting him to stop biting though,m. Perhaps trying some different bottles?

My 7 month old has two teeth and at least one more on the way and he has decided that I would be the perfect chew toy. He has even torn open the underside of my nipple and now continues to keep biting and I can't seem to get him to stop. And he will not take a bottle at all. Has any one had this problem? If so any suggestions to get him to stop. It's getting really painfull to nurse him and I have no other way to feed him.
