My husband does this too!! When we first started living together he asked where something of his was, and i said "how would i know??" and he said "my mom always knows!!"

UGH!
He has gotten better yet, because I won't help him look if I know its right infront of him. He literally says "i can't find it" as soon as he even heads to the pantry and hasn't even opened the door to look for "it"!
Must be a man thing! lol

It seems as though I'm not the only one who has loved ones plagued by the inability to look for lost things. It's good to know I am in good company

OMG DH is the worst with this. How many times has he freaked out because he can't find his wallet and it's right on the counter? Or asked me where something is and he's starting right at it. I am convinced that males naturally lack the detail-orientation needed to find things/adequately clean them (because he's blind to dust, as well). Maybe it's an evolutionary thing -- they have the big picture vision needed to see and shoot the wooly mammoth, and we have the detail vision needed to keep the cave clean ;)

I have this problem, I put stuff away so well I forget where it is. The most recent victim of this was my husband's winter coat. I just found it this week in the basement. When we went on a sledding vacation this winter, poor guy had to buy one from a second hand store just to have a coat on time because I insisted I would find it.

Heck yes! I'll even tell him where something is, down to the "look on bottom shelf, towards the right" and there are times when I still have to get up to get it. Mind you, lately he's been getting things for me, so I can't feel to bad about being the finder.

No advice, but my husband is the same. He'll ask me where something is, I'll tell him exactly where it is and he'll come back complaining that he still can't find it... I'll go to wherever I told him to look in the first place, lift something up and voila... Not looking forward to adding a running inventory of all our LOs things to my already cramped head-space too.

Hahaha! We call this "man-vision" at our house. My favorite example was when Mr. Blue was whining about not being able to find his phone charger for months...finally, I looked for it, and it was still plugged into the wall. Because the phone end had fallen off his dresser, he just thought it was GONE. Man-vision. I'm afraid your boys are suffering from an early version of it! :)

...and I think they got it from their father. I don't understand why all of the men and boys in my life can't pick something up to look for something else. My boys now go into a room and scream mommy I can't find it. I walk in and whatever it is they are looking for is right there. One of my little guys said "mommy you find it like you find daddy's stuff." Ugh i guess it is my lot in life to be the finder of things.

Anyone have any suggestions for toddler and getting them to look for things better. I am pretty sure my husband is a lost cause.
