Just an update in case anybody ran a search on HB for GD numbers:

I tested for about three weeks, and my OB mainly looked at the Fasting numbers, which were mostly in the 80s (except for those two days). She said she was clearing me for GD, but wants me to choose two random days per week to still test for fasting and one hour after each meal, to make sure it doesn't still develop. (Since I failed the one-hour, she puts me "at risk" for developing insulin resistance.) She also recommends watching my carbs, not as strictly as the "GD diet" but definitely to be aware.

I'll definitely stay on top of this!

When I had two higher than preferred numbers in one week I was put on meds this is after I was already diagnosed with GD. They may not tell you the threshold to get the most honest results. With those high fasting #s I would not be surprised if you get a GD diagnosis.

Thanks everyone! @MamaBear87: @BadgerMom: yes, I read a bunch of posts where it was the fasting number that docs were most worried about! Thanks for the heads up :) And great tip on the protein bar before bed!

Your daytime numbers don't look bad from what I remember, but they're not going to like your fasting numbers. With fasting numbers that high, I wouldn't be surprised if they want you to follow a GD diet regimen. It looks like if they do, it won't be very hard for you since your after meal numbers look ok. You'll just have to figure out the right combo of night snack to get your fasting numbers down. Some people do well with a protein heavy snack and some do well with a more sugary snack like ice cream. For me the trick was a Nature Valley Protein granola bar. Eating that before bed kept my fasting numbers on point.

My guess would be a couple high numbers shouldn't be too concerning, but I did have gd and the number they were most concerned about was the fasting number. Just wanted to mention it so you have a heads up

One thing that helped me was noting what I ate when I tested, so I could always go back and pinpoint what it was that made my numbers higher. But from what you are showing now, I don't think your numbers will earn you a GD diagnosis.

I think 2 higher readings out of 7 shouldn't be that concerning esp if you can pinpoint the fact that you had a snack before bed.

My fasting # was always bad no matter what I did (I had GD), so hopefully they will let you pass!

OK thank you! Yes I'm looking back and I did have something as a bedtime snack that wasn't a protein. Although I usually do have a nighttime sweet tooth. Gah!

Yup, think about what you are eating after your dinner testing but before bedtime. Any night time snack will have an impact on that morning reading.

Do you have a snack before bed? I think sometimes a high protein snack before bed can help your fasting numbers? At least it can't hurt to give it a try!

So I got sick during the 3 hour glucose test so they are having me use a diabetic kit to test my sugars at home for two weeks. I test fasting, then every hour between meals. I’m not to change my diet because they want to see how my body reacts to foods I eat normally. These were the numbers on a GD sheet that they gave me for healthy blood sugars:

Less than 90 mg/dl before meals (fasting)
Less than 140mg 1 hour after meals
Less than 120mg 2 hours after meals

These are my numbers for the past 7 days:
Fasting B	L	D
83 116 114	104
89 ? ? 104
84 125	108	117
80 126	93	124
79 97 131	110
93 110 111 95 (pizza for dinner)
95

I feel like my numbers are good except for this morning and yesterday morning. I’m doing this for another week but I’m just worried that these past two “fasting” readings will get me a GD diagnosis? I mean, I have another week left of testing and I know more readings will give more info, but I’m just slightly panicking today/right now. My fasting number this morning was 95, although we had pizza last night, and I read that pizza affects you for even days afterwards. That doesn’t explain Thursday’s fasting number of 93, where I had corn and chicken homemade chowder the night before though. I don’t even know what I’m asking… I guess “what do you think?” Do you think these past two mornings’ fasting GD be the reason for a GD diagnosis? This is a silly question I know, because I see the OB next week. But you know how it is…
