Aw sounds like she got a goose egg--those are scary looking! LO got one a few weeks ago. The swelling went way down in a n hour or so but it looked gnarly for a week or so! Sorry mama!

Bumps on the head are scary! But think of it this way, there is just skin and then bone. The swelling has no where to go except out. Whereas a bump somewhere else can swell inside so you just see the bruise. While it looks bad she is probably ok. Never hurts to have it looked at though!

DS fell face first into the tile floor at an aunts house when he was 10 months. Luckily that aunt is a paramedic and she told me this.ade me feel a lot better!

I clicked on this post because the exact same thing happened to me last night! I was reading to my 21-month old on my bed and he got excited and started standing up and falling towards me, and I would catch him. Then, my daughter walked into the room and he decided to LEAP over my legs to where she was, thinking she would catch him. Well, he missed, and fell straight onto his face on the hardwood floor. Got a giant blueish bump on his forehead. Luckily my mom was at my house at the time, and she's a RN and knew what to do. We put ice on him for about 45 minutes, and checked his pupils with a flashlight every 10 minutes. After about 3 checks, she said he was good to go to bed. So I think he's fine. But it's really scary and my husband was mad at me for letting him stand on the bed.

my 19 month old was scrambling to get away from me this morning she didnt want to get off our bed and she fell off the bed and got a huge bump on her head at least 2 inches in diameter, she also bit inside her lip when she fell so it was bleeding a tiny bit. I feel awful, I tried to grab her but she slipped out of my hands! It sucks, one minute she was fine and the next she was crying head off with that giant bump on her head. we immediately gave her advil and put ice on it and it has minimized in size drastically. DH stayed home with her and will take her to the doctor soon. I feel horrible. she was okay when i was leaving she calmed down and seemed to forget about it. Has anyone experienced their LO having a big bump on the head, it was really scary looking at first. I had no idea it could swell up so fast. I am really hoping the doctor says everything is okay. I feel guilty that I came to work and left her and its all my fault
