@mrs.wagon: Yeah, maybe Wagon Jr just wants some extra mommy time! They're so perceptive, huh? They're little adults in miniature toddler bodies! Last night, I decided to give my son a little mommy/me time so we went out for a walk, just the two of us (usually daddy comes with us). He grabbed my hand, looked up at me and BEAMED. Our little buddies just miss us....that's all! :)

@banana: yeah, he kind of freaked the first time I didn't come inside as well but that was weeks ago. Today we were talking about it as we drove away and I think he misses me because I used to do bedtime every night, but now Wagon Sr. puts him to bed so I don't have to carry him over to the crib and lift him over the crib wall. So I'm going to do bedtime a little more often I think.

Our little men even freak out at the same time... what the heck!!! :)

@mrs.wagon: Awwwww. Sweet!!! Hope it was a one time deal and that he doesn't do this every single day! This morning was better for us. He didn't cry when I left cause I spent some time with him this morning (me and him time). I think that helped. I'm thinking he wanted to just spend some time with me in the mornings. Usually I rush downstairs, grab breakfast and head out the door so maybe he wanted some attention? I don't know but I hope I've figured it out!

Ok seriously, we're soooooo twinsies!

Haha I thought of you this morning. We drop off Wagon Jr. at daycare together, and these days Wagon Sr. goes in alone with him while I sit in the car and wave goodbye from the window. For some reason this morning he was saying "Mommy go in too, Mommy go in too!" as they went into the door... then a few seconds later Wagon Sr. appears and gestures to me to come in. I go in and lo and behold, Wagon Jr. is having a fit, tears rolling down his face, screaming "Mommy Mommy Mommy" and all the teachers are standing there totally dumbfounded, saying "wow, he never does this!" I picked him up, we went to wash his hands together, and then he happily walked into his classroom and didn't even look back. He did go to the window and watched us leave as I blew him kisses and waved with a big smile on my face as we drove away.

Stressful, but flattering. :)

Hopefully it is a phase! My LO has been clingy her entire life so I don't really have any advice. The whole explaining thing doesn't work for her. She just follows me around! I have noticed that she'll let me out of her sight for a little bit longer sometimes now. Baby steps, I guess. Everyone tells me that they just grow out of it eventually.

@purpletulips: I'm hoping it's just a phase (a short phase!). All of my mommy friends said their LOs went through a similar phase. It's so weird because last week, he couldn't care less if we entered/left the room. Now, he starts bawling whenever I leave his sight for 2 seconds! I have no idea what to do. If you ever find tips that work, please share!! As of now, I'm going to do as @mrs.wagon suggested and try to explain why we're leaving and when we're coming back.

@MrsWagon-great suggestion on having them repeat you; DH has been leaving for work before DD gets up in the morning and I spend most of my morning telling her that he has gone to work with her asking "why or where's daddy" constantly. I am going to have to try your suggestion.

@Banana-we're finding the same thing with our LO and I wish I knew why. We dropped DH off at his car on Sunday morning on our way to church and DD screamed for daddy the whole 5 min it took us to get there. He arrived about 1 min after us and she was perfectly fine.

@mrs.wagon: It's weird cause he was never clingy before! He's not sick or anything. I figure it's just a phase or something but now I'm all worried that he'll get worse when the baby comes! I'll try upping my attention towards him and hopefully that'll help! Thanks!

oh no! Well, maybe it's a good thing so he can get over this clingy-ness before the baby comes? Wagon Jr. was a little clingy towards us and we just upped the attention we paid to him (answering him right away, responding to him very enthusiastically etc) and the clingy-ness eventually turned to affection. He's not clingy in general though so I can't really help. Maybe you can be very consistent in what you do when you leave, like explain where you're going, have him repeat you (I always do this... I say, "daddy's at work! can you say, daddy's at work?" then he likes to announce it over and over, and that distracts him from the fact that daddy's not there). These days Wagon Jr. has also been responding well to "don't cry, it's ok" and then the explanation of why it's ok.

It's so hard to figure out what works when they are changing so much so quickly...

My 2 year old son started getting really clingy to me recently. He gets upset when I leave his sight for 2 minutes and starts crying for me. It's so weird because he was never like this (even last week). Any advice? I feel bad, especially in the mornings when I have to leave for work. I know it's just a phase but I want to make sure he's not too stressed out when I leave. :(
