@shopaholic: you could try Vaseline on gauze as another option.

@Pumuckl: @kiddosc: hahah! VERY well could be the problem! I've cut back on the Vaseline since reading this! His circ seems to be healing better so it's okay.

@avivoca: lol - no? We're trying to figure it out. I'll try that next changing!

@shopaholic: like @Pumuckl: said, we had the problem that there was too much Vaseline on the diaper for it to soak anything up. We ended up just putting Vaseline on his penis and not on the front of the diaper, which helped.

@shopaholic: Are you putting the diaper on top first and then putting the bottom on? The nurses told us about it in the hospital (even though we have a girl) just to show us different ways to put on a diaper.

@shopaholic: Maybe there is so much vaseline that the diaper cannot soak anything up? Basically vaseline is fat and will act as a barrier for the pee/moisture.

OK, ruffles are always out. I'll admit, we don't touch the penis! lol. The nurse told us not to while it heals and just swirl a TON of vaseline or Aquaphor on top. It's hard enough trying to keep that on top and close up the diaper without the pointing and getting sprayed! We have to get this system down fast!

Still in awe how it gets the back soaked and nothing in front or sometimes the diaper is completely dry?!

Diaper ruffles out, penis down straight (as possible), tight around waist even with the circ gauze the dipe never irritated the healing process.

Penis pointing down and all the ruffles around the legs out.

With the healing I think it is a bit trickier as there is lots of vaseline and gauze.

Are you using newborn size diapers?

DS would do the same. Our issue was the diaper ruffles around the legs. Had to make sure every part of the ruffles were out and not folded I at all.

We didn't circumcise so I can't help in that regard, but are you pointing his penis down and not to either side? The diaper may not be tight enough if it's leaking. What size diaper are you using?

First time boy mom question here! LO has had a mysterious leak a few times since yesterday. He's been soaking his side/back through his clothes/blanket. But, a couple of the times, the diaper is not wet at all!

He does tend to roll over to the side, but I'm perplexed how his front is dry but he's wet all over his back. He is a tiny little thing right now (about 5lbs 10 oz.) so I don't think it's a diaper size problem. Unless maybe I'm not doing it tight enough because he's also healing from circumcision, so I don't want to make it too tight.

I'm just really confused how his back is sides are getting all wet, but not his diaper or front? Never happened with DD that I could remember. Any insight? lol
