@jmarionsmith: he thought bacterial and prescribed an antibiotic gel. If that doesn't work I'll keep the yeast in mind.

I had something very similar happen a couple of weeks ago. My dermatologist also diagnosed me with rosacea, which was no surprise to me, I'm pretty much always red faced. But the flare up was being caused by a yeast overgrowth. Since yours is itchy (mine was more painful than itchy) I would might ask the dr about that. If it is yeast you'll need a prescription shampoo to wash your face with.

The doctor thinks it's rosacea. It makes sense with some flushing flare ups I've had in the past, but I never would have connected the two. He prescribed an antibiotic gel that will hopefully help it clear up. It's a chronic condition though, I hope this doesn't start happening often.

Is your supply established? If so I wouldn't worry about taking 1 dose. Or you could try a Claritin or Zyrtec before bed although that won't be as strong to help with the rash.

@gotkimchi: ugh, I'm nursing and don't want to take benadryl. I'm worried about affecting supply.

@mauxie: I hope it's not. It's only on my face though.

@JMOM: I've only been outside in our yard. So I don't think poison ivy.

I had this once with no cause we ever found. Diagnosed as atopic dermatitis - treated with Benadryl, prednisone, and an antibiotic just in case

Poison ivy? Once I had it on my ear and it went to my face very quickly. I couldn't figure out what it was and the doctor said it was infantigo, but I realized within a couple days it was poison ivy when it started itching, spreading and weeping.

Has anyone seen something like this before? It popped up overnight. I don't have any acne, that's all the rash. I can't get in to see a doctor until tomorrow. It's a little itchy, but otherwise doesn't bother me. I used a new mascara a few days ago, but can't think of any other causes.
