Meh, people get pulse ox all the time with their nails done. Hell, I had it on mine for vaginal inductions and my nails were just polished.

Sounds like no for unplanned, and yes for planned! Silly though, in a way..... if it doesn't matter for unplanned, it shouldn't matter for planned, IMO. I understand the pulse ox thing, so I would think one finger would suffice in all cases.

I was ready for work. I had my hair done, makeup on, nails done when my water broke. For my emergency c-section no one cared. I'm going in for a RCS. I'm going to have to ask!

They told me not too, but I had a manicure before my first and figured why not for my second. My anesthesiologist actually commented and said "you moms always have to come in with your nails done, my wife did the same. you make my job harder" but he was laughing. I just joked "people take picture of me holding a newborn, you need to have pretty nails"

I had on dark pink nail polish I'd just done the night before and no one ever said anything. I actually just checked the photo of my holding LO while they were sewing me up and I had the oxygen thing on my finger and nail polish still on so... who knows? Didn't seem to be a problem.

Interesting! I had a fresh manicure when I had my emergency C. No one took it off. Pulse ox worked fine. For the record it was light pink and regular not gel :)

I say treat Yoself mama! Even if it ends up having to come off last minute, it will be nice to enjoy some pampering before the delivery!

I had an emergency c section and was wearing gel polish. No one tried to wipe it off but the aesthestiologist could not get a read on the pulse oxygen monitor and it was stressing him out a bit. I'd leave it off.

@regberadaisy: ha totally. In a true emergency they typically have nail polish remover pads.

If you want to be super safe you could just leave one index finger undone. They say no polish to check capillary refill and to put a pulse ox on your finger

With my first I had an emergency c section. I had light pink nail polish on and it wasn't a problem. I just had a RCS and did not wear nail polish because it said on my hospital instructions not to. I think in an emergency situation, they aren't going to waste time taking off polish

I want to get a mani/pedi tomorrow but I've heard from a friend that she was not allowed to have nail polish on for her planned C-Section. I'm not planning on having a C-section, but I am due on Tuesday and if it ends up going that way, I don't want to have to scrub off $40+ of polish that I just got....
