Adjust your W-4, add baby as beneficiary to any applicable documents and assets (wills, AD+D, insurance, etc), add baby to health insurance, apply for Social Security and birth certificate (paperwork usually filled out in the hospital but you likely have to request copies of some of it separately), open a college savings account (may or may not apply to your family), etc.

If you have any retirement accounts you'll want to keep your spouse as primary bene but add your baby as contingent to make sure the assets don't pass to your estate in the event that you and your husband pass away at the same time.

When I got married I noticed all kinds of checklists to help you remember to change all your documents/accounts (DL, SS number, bank, etc.). I'm wondering if there's any type of list like this for adding a baby to the mix. I know I'll need to call my health insurance company, change life insurance beneficiary, etc. but what else am I missing?
