Love Cornelia and Cornelius both for a girl middle name. Also, this is just one person's opinion :) but my name (first and last) is a double hard C alliteration, and I've always thought it was distinctive and memorable. Some letters are better than others for alliteration, and there's something about a "kuh" sound that's easier to say twice than for instance, an F or S.

Jordan and Annika are beautiful, too. Congratulations, that is so much fun!

@ElbieKay: I guessed that was the name. It depends how you feel about Cornelius I guess. I am trying to think of other options you might like better but maybe you are fine. Cora? 4 letter like Roth?

Also a note on popularity: my DD is now 6 and her name is a top 10 name. I wanted something more unusual but we had the hardest time finding something we both loved. It really has not been an issue for us. We know of other little girls who share her name but it is not like there are 5 other girls in her kindergarten or anything! So if you love the names, popularity shouldn’t be a deal breaker!

@ElbieKay: I love Caroline and Amelia, then you can do Lia and Mia if you want to or you can call them by their whole names to keep them more different.

@MamaCate: The actual name is Cornelius. That is why I am thinking Cornelia. I don't love either aesthetically but think Cornelius is too much for a girl. I know Roth is a little masculine but it bothers me less.

I really love Caroline and Amelia! They seem to go well together without being super matchy and they are just lovely names.

On Cornelia, I don’t know if this is too much of a change to defeat the name you are honoring, but I like Cordelia a lot more than Cornelia. Is that an option? Or would you consider using the actual name you are honoring since Roth is not feminine either? Just some thoughts.

@ElbieKay: I’ve found that middle names aren’t really a big deal. Pretty much no one ever says your kid’s whole name anyways. My daughter is Lily Lucia and some people weren’t big fans of the alliteration. It was important to my husband that we have at least a middle name with his Italian heritage since LO1’s name is more aligned with mine.

No one’s even asked what either of our kids’ middle names was since they were born.

@ElbieKay: I initially always thought AH- nnika but my daughter had an ANN-ika in her class this year and it took me a few days to firmly remember which way it was. Same with Annabel- we have a friend named that and I have to check old emails for the spelling every time. Because I hate misspelling names!

I had the thought of amelia Cornelia and laughed to myself earlier.

I think there is a big difference between picking popular trendy names and popular classic names. Amelia and Caroline are such classics to me that I wouldn't be bothered by the popularity.

@Foodnerd81: that is a good point about Annika. I was thinking "AH-nih-kah" as the pronunciation. One reason it's in my list is that my husband is half German.

I also like the name Annabel. It was on my list of girls names before I knew my son's gender. But now that I am actually picking girl names for real, I think it's a little too over-the-top girly. Plus no one will ever spell it correctly.

Oh my goodness- identical twin girls!

Caroline and Amelia are way more my style. I know Amelia is popular but I really haven’t met many. They sound nice with the middle names. I like Amelia so much it’s my daughters middle name (she has an even more popular first name :bummed: )

Also like the other two but dislike how you could pronounce Annika two different ways (more like Ann or like Anna from frozen).

Ok people. I have to name identical twin girls!

So far I have come up with two sets of first names that I like. One is "softer" than the other. I think I prefer that pair, but both names are pretty popular (one was ranked 11 most recently). Ideally I'd pick something less popular.

I think I am going to use their grandmothers' maiden names as middle names: Roth and Cornelia (which is a feminine derivative of the actual name). I like the gesture and prefer a "meaningful" middle name. I don't love Cornelia aesthetically but it'll do. It doesn't really match my naming style.

My son's name is Tobias (Toby) which has a low popularity ranking.

Our last name is three syllables. Starts with an A and the last syllable is pronounced "see".

My husband likes all four of the names in this list. He will want veto power for a name he hates but would otherwise prefer to let me pick a name so he doesn't have to!

Please vote or list other suggestions below. Thanks!

Also, how do I decide which twin gets which name?! I am thinking reverse alpha order so that the older one is second alphabetically just to even that playing field a bit. I can't think of any other method!
