Every times someone compliments his name I say "thanks" but inside all I can think is "I get to name the next one."
Nothing is wrong with his name but I don't love it. I also don't see him as any other name. (voted other)

Friends of ours named their daughter Nevaeh (yes, heaven backwards)... The now-husband made fun of the name one drunk night while she was still pregnant. I admit, the name totally fits their daughter and it seems to work...

Our potential girl name is one of those names I worry about. It has meaning for DH and I but it's a little different and will likely be misprounced. I prefer a nickname of it but don't want to name a daughter one thing and call her another. Also, it's a name on Glee and I don't want people thinking that's why we picked it.

LO's name is quite uncommon, although not out-there, I don't think. Sometimes when I have to restate his name for people a couple of times, I wonder if we did the right thing with his name....but ultimately I love the name and think it fits him. Plus, I feel you can have even a common name like mine (Kristan) and still end up having to pronounce or spell it for people all the time because of how it's spelled.

My mom heavily regrets my middle name. Even tried to have it changed after I was a few months old. She got talked into giving me her MIL's name as a middle name while she was all drugged up. When i got married, I tried to change it, but you need a court order in my state.

Even though Baby Shopaholic isn't here yet, sometimes I do wonder about name regret. DH and I spent years playing the name game and when we finally agreed on a name we both liked, he went and told everyone her name in an announcement!
Though I do love the name, Kaitlyn, it feels a little weird not having met her yet. I like that it's rather classic and timeless, but I also sometimes want something more on trend and unique. I don't think we'll change it, but I DO know 2 guys who have changed their own names once or twice.

I love the name Evan! We already have an Evan in the family, otherwise it would have been a top contender!

Mine looked like a Cameron in his ultrasounds, we had no hesitation with it. In the early days I questioned it in my mind, but never really seriously, Colin would have worked well too.

Naming is such a big thing, there is a lot of pressure to decide and make everyone happy. That said, I think your SIL should have kept her opinions to herself.

i LOVE lil' CB's name, but i have a little regret because the meaning turned out not to be what we initially thought it was. name meanings are really important to us because in korean culture name meanings bear a lot of importance (or at least they used to!). when we first found lil' CB's name, we loved the meaning we saw with it, but then after we had decided on it, everywhere else we saw it gave it a different, less significant meaning. oh, well. in our heads, it just means what we first thought it meant. :)

For us, we always liked DD's name almost from the instant I was pregnant. There was nothing better. In the past two years, I've felt regret a handful of times, only because I can't have every great name that I like for the moment. Oh well, I can look forward to naming a pet or her dolls, the other names! :D
@Mrs. Tricycle: That's cool!! I didn't even know you could do that. I kinda like that idea I find it very interesting because my parents told me they didn't name for 3 weeks after I was born and just called me 'baby' until then. I was highly insulted when I learned of this story, but now I see some logic from an objective point of view.

We named DD Emma Kathleen after working through our respective lists and nixing things we didn't like. I was pretty sad that my favorite, Isla Rose, got cut because it was my favorite and it would've fit her so well.

She's a lovely Emma, but her gingy cuteness would've fit Isla a smidge better in my opinion.

We had two choices that we both liked, but one was definitely my favorite and one was my husband's. We waited till LO was born to decide, and my husband was pretty excited about his choice, so I rolled with it. I think she is growing into it, but I still have some regrets. Sometimes I look at her and think, "Should you be a Maeve??"

I have some bitterness attached to part of DS's name and will be changing it!

DH got to come home from Afghanistan for R&R right before my due date. I was 39 weeks pregnant and his family decided that it was a good time to make him feel bad about not using a family name. DH & I agreed on a name shortly after learning the gender. It was seriously the only thing we were able to do together during the pregnancy. He was gone for everything! In the end, I told him that he should do what he thought was right. I thought he wouldn't use the name because he knew I was pissed. I was wrong. DS now has 2 middle names. I'm not into 2 middle names anyway, but the fact that one of them was not chosen by me makes it worse.

We're changing his name and removing the second middle name. Most people don't even know that he has more than one middle name because I act like it doesn't exist!

P.s. I voted that I did regret & changed it.

@artbee: I was the same way, actually. I never liked the name Charlotte growing up. I always thought it was too common, too old-fashioned, etc. We were watching a movie when I was about 8 months pregnant and a character was named Charlotte. I remember looking at DH and telling him that was our daughter's name. It just clicked.

So I voted "I changed it" just to represent that this does happen - a friend of mine did it! She hated her 2nd daughter's name from the beginning and was annoyed that a type of birth control came out with the same name and thought people would be forever associating her daughter with the pill. She changed it close to her first birthday!!! We all thought that was a bit late to be changing names, but hey... it's not our call. She's never looked back.

I was actually going to write a post on this. I don't think I'll have name regret. I love love love LO's name. But my situation is a little different because I didn't used to love it. I remember growing up thinking it was a stupid name actually.

Her name is Rose. I didn't like the name and I didn't like roses. I thought they were boring and ordinary. I always thought at my wedding I would not have any roses because I wanted something more unique. But then when I went to my florist and she asked if I wanted roses, all of a sudden it cliqued that they are classic and beautiful and I said yes. And when DH said that he had a great grandma named Rose and how about we name our LO after her, I loved it and thought it was perfect.

I don't know why I changed my mind all of a sudden.... but I just hope I never change my mind back. I don't think I will now that LO is here because the name is now associated with her, and obviously I love all things associated with her :)

He grew into it! We chose his name, Jacobi, before he was born and we LOVED it. When I first saw him, and his first couple weeks he didn't look like a Jacobi to me; he looked like Parker (which was the runner-up and we chose as his middle name). But I let it be and didn't tell DH- but now we totally love love looove it and I'm so glad we named him Cobi (his nn). Although, I do think Parker still would have suited him perfectly.

I DO regret the way we spelled it. When we first saw/heard it, it was spelled Jacobi but then I heard some people tell me they would have spelled it with a Y. By that time we'd already done our maternity pictures with his name spelled with an "I" so it was too late to change it.
