LO did not feel like her name at first because we didn't tell anyone or use it ever when I was pregnant... so it was just hard to really connect her with a name I had barely said out loud! I wanted to call her the pet name we'd given her in utero. Eventually (after a few weeks?) I got used to it and I LOVE her name. It is 100% her.

@simplyfelicity: This is the same with us. We choose Harriet intending to call her Hattie. She's just Harriet to us (sometimes Harry) but others still called her Hattie. Now she is 2, Hattie has died down.

The kids middle names are their Korean names, no regrets there...and I feel like the names fit my kids, but I kinda wish it had more meaning. Just like Korean names mean something.

The plan was to formally name him William and call him Liam. Now that he is here, I feel like his name really is William but every one calls him Liam (like we planned,) and it just feels off. Anyway, I am sure it will work itself out...he's only 6 weeks.

We were TG the first time and had a boys name all ready that we didn't use because we had a daughter. Now we are TG again, and will reuse the boys name but with a different spelling - looking back I know I would have really regretted spelling it the way we initially planned - which makes me nervous that I might regret it again in 2 years time!

But I love our DDs name and I feel confident about both our names this time so hopefully that doesn't happen .

DH has a TON of friends (close and far) who all had sons it seemed so picking out DS's name was hard. We ended up settling on one that I was eh about, but DH really liked. He's 2 and I'm still eh about it and don't see him as his name, but I don't foresee myself changing his name.

My friend totally changed her daughters name! Her first and middle were both unisex names more commonly used for girls. Both trendy. She changed them both to very girl old lady names! She was sooo upset about it and worried about people's reactions, but no one cares! There's been a few slip ups of people calling her the original name, but nothing horrible.

They changed her name when she was around 6 months old.

@Boogs: not for our daughter, but I regret keeping my original middle name instead of using my maiden name as my middle. Sometimes I think of changing it or adding it as a second middle. I love my married last name, so no regrets there- my Dad was the last with his last name and had two daughters :(

I wanted to name DD1 Jessalynn but DH HATED that...he came up with Jessie Lynn and I figured I could have what I wanted if I called her by both names....but I dont, I just call her Jessie and it suits her perfectly. It's still not my favorite name, but it's my favorite name for her, if that makes sense. DH had some gender disappointment woth DD2 and was a pain to pick names with so I picked her name and told DH he had no choice but to like cause that's her name (Sydney Grace) but she's only 3.5 months so I still just like the name, she hasn't really grown into it yet.

There was a time when I wasn't sure we made the right decision. DH hated practically everything I suggested and had no suggestions of his own. We eventually decided on Declan Cole, but if it had been up to me Cole would be the first name. But we couldn't find a middle name to go with Cole. DH pointed out that we both liked Declan and Cole made a perfect middle name. Cole Declan just doesn't have the same ring to it.

On top of that we had a lot of people mispronounce and misspell it, which is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I thought we picked a fairly simple and well known, if not super popular, name and I've been shocked at how many people never heard it before. Especially around Boston!

Now he's almost two and the weird mispronunciations and spellings have slowed down and I can't imagine him as anything other than Declan

This is what I'm currently terrified of. I love DDs name so much and it suits her so perfectly, I'm
So nervous about picking our sons name and it not fitting him or me regretting the name/getting sick of it down the line. So far our top choices are more "trendy" names vs traditional and even though I love then now, I wonder how I'll feel in 5 years? Ugh

Do you ever regret names you chose for your kids? If you ever have, did you do anything about it or did you eventually get over it.

I love our oldest's name, so it make picking the baby's name that much harder. We still weren't decided even after he was born, but had to submit a name at the hospital because we had to get discharged! We settled on a first name that I had stronger feelings towards and the middle name was more LO1/DH's choice. Now that some time has passed, LO just doesn't feel like he matches his names, if that makes any sense. I still like his name, but it doesn't feel like him. We aren't going to do anything about it, but I hope he at least likes his name!
