I basically just let them outside a few times a day. I would also make sure one of the kids made sure they had food/ water. It was pretty easy.</p> <p>My current family and I are talking about getting a dog in the future. I will be the one who does 95% of the work because I'm the one home all the time. With this hypothetical dog I'm sure I will end up taking it on walks to the dog park and making sure it gets exercise since we have a very tiny back yard. Honestly, I'm the one pushing for a dog : ) </p> <p>As long as you're up front about the dogs/ their responsibilities then it shouldn't be a problem. I love dogs and would gladly take care of them, but the dogs are deathly afraid of the little boy, so they keep the dogs in their kennel during the day. She loves our pup and even though I have never asked her to do any dog-duties, she has taken the initiative with some of the responsibilities (changing food/water, washing out his bowls, cleaning up his vomits which he does occasionally due to some medical issues, etc.). She does not walk him, though she has offered. I just don' feel comfortable with her taking the baby and the dog out because he tends to be a little crazy on the leash when anyone outside of me or my husband walks him. The most I did was let them out, and occasionally change their water. That was it! Except I'm not an animal lover, but it was expected of me to complete basic care for the dog(s), so I did. I took her on walks when I brought the kids to the park and let her outside during the day. But he was an apt dog who was used to his three walks a day (which my sister and bil took care of). If yours are needier its probably something you'd want to discuss with any candidates. I think it depends on the person. I have walked most of my work pups and fed them. Honestly though, if work pup kills an animal, I'm not goin near it! Haha. I'll let my boss know &amp; he can take care of it. That said, I have loved all my work pups &amp; cried saying goodbye when one was put down. They were with me 45hrs a wk, I cared a great deal for them! Does the nanny let the dogs outside to go to the bathroom throughout the day? Watch them in the yard or play with them at all?</p> <p>I have two pretty needy dogs. When they go outside run around the yard and try and catch birds and chase rabbits (it is fenced but they still get in). </p> <p>I am thinking about applying for a job but my DH isn't comfortable with daycare (which I think is a little ridiculous but that's another story). So I am thinking about a nanny but not sure how it would work with my pups! </p> <p>Share your experience if you have a nanny and a dog! </p>
