I'm interested in responses here because my nanny is turning 26 this year and won't be able to be on her parents' insurance and will need to get her own. I would definitely consider contributing.</p> <p>BTW, there are two kinds of taxes. It is illegal for employers not to take out, or pay on the behalf of, their nanny's social security and medicare ie payroll taxes. Both had health insurance already though I'm not sure we would've paid that as a benefit...maybe with our 2nd nanny because she charged us such a low rate for the area. I picked the plan I wanted and they pay the bill whenever it arrives each month. I also know that they get a tax cut because they pay my insurance. They also cover my car insurance (only $7/ month) and I am able to use their cars during my on and off time. I am given vacation time (at least 5 weeks randomly throughout the year) but zero sick days. They are pretty much never allowed to unexpectedly miss work due to the type of jobs they have and therefore I have to work even when I'm puking my brains out. I would do at least two paid weeks and some sick days. They give me money for little odds and ends like lunch with friends or a random class. I know some nannies have their cell phone bill and gym membership paid, too. Oh, and they pay me legally through a payroll company. In case you didn't know, it is illegal for a nanny to pay her own taxes. The biggest benefit is how much freedom they give me. They 1000000% trust me and that means the world to me. I feel like I hit the jackpot with my nanny family. I can not begin to tell you how grateful and lucky feel every day. They go above and beyond for me and therefore I love coming to work every single day. They love my boyfriend and treat him as part of the family. At least once a week they buy dinner for my boyfriend and I. No reason, just because they are super wonderful. Also we pay her legally. So yeah, W-2, taxes, etc. My friends that have nannies don't offer benefits. This is my first time looking for work where I had to worry about health insurance coverage, the other nannies I know either have coverage through a spouse or some that are paid under the table have it free through the state, but I'm curious how others have handled it.
