Even though it's an inconvenience, I'd rather have a nanny call out sick than watch my child... I think it'd end up being a lot worse for everyone if your kiddo (or you) caught her bug too.

@littlek: I'm not sure, but I don't think I could handle doing that since he's never been to daycare. I know he'd be fine, but I would be a wreck! There are a few people who have offered to help in case of an emergency, but I always hesitate to ask because I feel like maybe they just say that to be nice. I don't want to burden anyone...

Luckily she is better and I am back to work. Praying I don't get sick because I really shouldn't use anymore of my sick days!

Our short-term nanny (we had for 3 months) called out sick/had to take a vacation day 3 times and all 3 times I was the one who took the day off because my husband is a teacher, so I understand how using sick days can be hard for you. Though I had to put my foot down and let him know that if our nanny is out sick or the baby is sick, he's got to take off next time because just because I have a desk job doesn't mean I take off all the time!

It sucks. My job only allows 10 of my sick days to be used for the baby...but I don't tell them that the baby is sick! :)

Do you have a Bright Horizons daycare near you? I believe they do temporary daycare.

For the first time since we hired her last August. On one hand, I'm glad she didn't bring her illness over here, but on the other hand, it's not the best day for either of us to stay home. I'm also worried that she'll call out tomorrow, too. For a teacher, using sick days when I'm not actually sick is so hard. What do you do when your child care provider is sick? How does that work for an in-home daycare situation?

On the plus side, Liam slept through the night last night (his sleep has been unpredictable lately) and slept in an hour later than usual! He's just waking up now, so I'm off!

Hope you all are having a good day.
